I had the same issue with Windows 7 64 bit.I managed to solve it by doing the following
1. Locate the scan2pc.exe program in C:\Windows\twain_32\Samsung\CLX3170 2. Right-click/properties - Compatibility tab. 3.Set compatibility to win xp. Set "Run as Administrator"
I also added the scan2pc.exe to the firewall allowed programs (did that for scanmgr.exe as well, but I don't think I needed to).
Works great now!

open the cover and now remove the waist toner container (you say it is empty) check the conection to the drum unit sometimes if the waist toner is verry full there is a pille of toner closing this connection, now clean it and all the sorounding from the toner and mount the waist container back in his possition, close the front cover and try, it should work now.

The unit switches to English, if you installed any other.
In the menu appears TECH MODE.
In Samsung CLX-3175 to enter the reset require a password 1934. The numbers by pressing "LEFT" - "RIGHT",
After each number press the "OK"

What kind of printer, HP will pop a 50 code which means underheat or overheat. Usually fuser replacment solves these problems, I would not leave it on they tend to melt plastic covers above printer.....

I was not able to scan to the computer from the printer and I resolved the issue by selecting "Enable Scan from Device Pannel" in the "Scan to PC Setings" menu in the "Samsung Easy Printer Manager". Somehow, the default value for this option was "Disable" and my printer could not make the connection to the computer. After changing it to "Enable Scan from Device Pannel", I was able to scan the documents to my computer using the menu options from the printer pannel.

It's the scanner fluorescent lamp faulty, replace the scanner will solve the problem

go to printer settings and select black and white only however as the printer is running color cartridges and they are empty you will always get that message it is not a good idea to run the printer with empty cartridges

I just replaced the fuser on this machine and the hardest part I think getting the right side cover off. The service manual was of little help the trick is to pry from the back and bottom. there are two little round tabs on the underside of the cover use a flat blade and pull. Once you remove the cover then I took the 4 screws out that hold the fuser. Then I lifted the fuser on the right side and traced the wires down to the board. There is a plastic piece on the right side of the fuser that sides into a gear. You have to slide to to the right to free the fuser. I used duct tape to keep the plastic piece and spring inside from falling out. Good Luck

You can use OCR, the dpi is high enough, you just need the OCR software on your computer. There are no brains in the printer to convert the images.

try to stop the sheet just before it enters the fuser and see if the marks are on the paper already. if not then it has to be the fuser if they are them you have another issue.

If it same - tries to print, motor running, and start work of mechanism but not printing may be it's problem of pick up roller, roller has rubber, it tired. replace rubber of roller or wipe it with sandpaper carefully

there is a chip on the new drum that is bad. you need to return it to whom ever you bought it and they should replace it.

I assume that you made some alternation to the printer the it sense the change and blow the resistor of the imaging unit.all you need to do is check the resistor by the side of the imaging unit if it is blown replace it with same value but a stronger one.
