How do you make a short cut for gmail
In Windows 7 I can copy the Web address in my browser, when I have Gmail open to my inbox, and then right-click the Desktop and select New from the menu and then select Shortcut from the next menu. A dialog opens up and says, "Type the location of the item" but you just right-click in the box and paste the address you copied. Hit Next, and type in a display name for your shortcut. Call it Gmail. Hit Finish.

How do I log into my old gmail account after creating a new one?
Each Gmail account ought to have its own password. Often, people let their software "memorize" the password, but after some time tend to forget what it was.
I set up my Gmail accounts to "POP" settings so that they actually "download" the incoming mail locally to my computer. This way I've got ALL the mail I want to keep ON my computer, meaning I don't have to use online access to Gmail to get it.
