I downloaded Yahoo messenger version 9.0, it kept messing up and it took ages to load. Tried to go back to version 8, but kept getting "Co Create Instance for the My Yahoo DLL failed."
What can I do to fix this messenger problem?
I'VE GOT IT!
Whether you are using XP or Vista, go to System Restore, follow the instructions and you will be taken to a point in the past that you either a) didn't have a Messenger hang or b) before installed Messenger and then you can do it again.
It doesn't affect any documents.
I should have remembered this myself but one of the guys on a forum that I am a member of reminded me of this solution.
Go to it...it's cake.

when trying to change my display picrure it stays the same wont let me change it
Go to folder
C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles\[your Yahoo ID]\My Icons
It's a list of display images saved by YM. Remember the filename of your desired image.
Open your registry (click Start, Run.., type REGEDIT).
Trace the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Yahoo/pager/profiles/[your Yahoo ID]/FriendIcons
The value of Path should reflect the filename of the current display image in your YM. Change it to reflect the filename of your desired image.
Close the registry.
Restart YM.

whenever I tried to login in the Yahoo Messenger, an error appears 81003004
as far as wat i did to my YM.
i simply checked the connection preferences and turned
"Connect via a proxy server."
then select
"HTTP proxy"
after that take a look at your internet connection dropdown list..
some mistakes are seen here.. instead of having the "broadband" connection selected the "dial-up" connection was chosen by YM itself..
hope that helps ya ^^

I have a problem installing my Yahoo! Messenger.
I uninstalled it because I had a problem logging in. I can log in in my
yahoo mail and use my YM there but not in my Yahoo! Messenger. That's
why I removed it. Then I tried to install it again. Now its saying :
"Yahoo! Messenger is unable to download files needed for installation. Please check firewall settings and retry installation."
I've already tried to turn off my firewall and install it but I kept on
getting the same message. I tried installing it withoutthe internet
connection but still the same message.
Please help me. What could be the problem? I was just using YM 2 days ago. This started yesterday. Thank you.
The problem is with the Yahoo uninstall software which fails to clear the old Messenger folder out and creates conflicts with the incoming new software - Your firewall doesn't know whats happening and hoists a red flag. If you had not started to uninstall I would have recommend you download revo and uninstall with that.

bear this in mind if you manage to install messenger but still have problems
You have to go into your C drive and delete the left behind software
Click ( > ) Start > Computer >> Local disk (C) >> Program files >>Yahoo >> Messenger - if you have Vista the folder should be empty - if you have pre- Vista the only sub-folder remaining should be 'Profile' ( The message Archive file) manually delete everything except 'Profile' by right clicking and deleting. When finished restart your computer and finish the install

We can't sign you in to yahoo! Messenger. There might be a problem with your Internet connection. Make sure your computer is connected to the internet. Click Troubleshoot to begin a series of tests to try to diagnose the connection problem.
1) Yahoo are concentrating their efforts to resolving sign-in issues
with Messenger 10. You may have to upgrade to this version if you
cannot resolve your problems and make use of the troubleshooting
software - even if you want to retro install an older version later.
2)
users who opt for a default browser other than IE may be neglecting to
keep IE up to date unaware that IE plays a crucial part in the running
of Yahoo Messenger. I use Firefox as my default but note the amount of
cleaning in IE when I run ccleaner.
3) Start your trouble shooting with a clean browser
Download
'ccleaner' and run it through a couple of times, using the factory
settings and the 'Run Cleaner' control until 0 bytes are seen to be
cleaned following a scan
Run the 'Registry' from the left hand toolbar but 'Save' any changes after opting to 'repair' errors.

4) It will be worth making IE your default browser while you troubleshoot
5) Download the latest IE from Microsoft
http://www.filehippo.com/download_internet_explorer/
6) Ensure 'work offline' is unchecked :- > Tools - uncheck Work Offline.
7) Update your support software for IE using the links on this page
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger10/notices/mstabuguqscripterror.html
After
updating check you do not have old versions of Flashplayer,
Shockwaveplayer and Java running alongside the latest - this can cause
conflicts
Start / control panel / programs
delete any old versions
8) If your log-in fails, interrogate the troubleshooting log for 'failed items'
Two Yahoo servers are used for initial log-ins
The log-in server checks your username and password are correct
If this has 'failed' check your IE can access a secure website by signing in here
https://login.yahoo.com/
No
luck? check IE settings >Tools > Internet options > Connection
tab > LAN > 'Use a proxy server for your LAN' > Advanced -
Under 'Proxy address to use' check the info in 'Secure' and 'Port' are
correct > OK for each window.
The connection server helps find
the right location to synchronise with other servers- if this shows
'failed' change your YM settings to connect via a proxy. This can be
done from the menu on the sign in page > Messenger > Preferences
> Connection -adjust settings > Apply > OK
If all else fails - try dis-abling your firewall and do a test sign in.
