The wire feed on my welder will not work.

Maybe you can get lucky like I did . Some times the acr volt selector switch gets corrosion in it and wont let the circuit board know to send power to the wire feed motor. You can cycle this arc volt. switch in my case it is the a,b,c,d,e, switch back and fourth a few times and this will brake the corrosion and your wire might feed again as mine did . This corrosion build up happens from not using and or sollecting the switch much usually on a welder at hm that gets very little use. it is common good luck .

I have a brand new Lincoln pro mig 140. Took it

I'm having a problem with the wire feed on my Lincoln Pro Mig 140. The wire feed speed is not consistant. It seems to be slipping even though the tension is tight. Any solutions?

No wire feed

If the power to the unit/fan is on and the relay clicks the fuse is not the problem. Check your motor connections. Either you have a bad motor/wiring to motor or motor speed control board.

I have a ProMig 175.

Verify the polarity is correct for Flux or Mig configuration (should be on label under lid) - and ensure there are no loose connections on that polarity wire.

Loosen the tensioner + make sure the wire feed motor turns freely by hand.
My WeldPak 100 and SP-135T were tough to turn, but it did turn freely.

If it does spin freely, then inspect the contacts for the voltage selector. Make sure to unplug the power cord and keep clear of the big capacitor. My SP-135T contacts corroded while in storage.

Wire doesn't feed

Either the trigger mechanism in the gun is bad, the servo that turns the feed wheel is bad, or you have too much tension on the adjustable tensioner knob. Take the wire out of the feed wheel, plug unit in and see if you can get the wheel to turn. If not, it is the trigger or the servo. If it turns, the tensioner was too tight.

Lincoln 175hd mig will not feed.

Make sure your roller motor is spinning. If it is, then adjust the rollers tight enough to spin out the wire. If power is available and motor does not spin, check the fuse on the control board. If it is ok, then it is your control board.

Lincoln ranger 250 voltage problem

Hi,
Check the current control resistor with an ohm meter. The center terminal should have a smooth rise or fall of resistance when measured to one end or the other of the resistor. If the resistor and the wiring to it are OK, check the shunt in the output it'll be by the "electrode" terminal. If both are OK you probably have a bad control board.

Regards,
Carl

Mig replace tip

Pull off the extreme outer nozzle of the MIG gun. Clean the inside of this nozzle with MIG pliers or round wire brush. Unscrew the welding tip. (If it is stuck, try using a pair of pliers lightly). Clean the entire area with a regular wire brush. Screw on the new tip finger tight, but snug. Replace the outer nozzle.
