Black & Decker Husky 750w Power Inverter Questions & Answers
Is this inverter powerful enough?
You are right. This is not enough to operate this freezer. You are going to need a bigger invertor it get it to work properly 900 or 1000 watt should be efficient even though it is not the best way to run the unit. If the unit has a problem you would be replacing the inverter all the time. Just FYI
What's your problem?how many amps on a 1/2 horse sump pump
750 watts is pretty close to one HP. However, the pump will have a much higher current draw on start up which may be too high for the inverter. (The accurate number is 745.699872 Watts per Horsepower)Discounting any losses, 750 watts from a 120 volt supply will draw 6.25 Amps. so 1/2 horsepower should draw 3.125 while running. Startup current may be much more. Check your pump for its current draw (should be printed on the pump) and check it against the inverter's limits. It may be that the inverter is too light for the pump.
I have had a Husky
What is most likely occurring is that the unit is overheating and then is being shut down by the protection circuitry, this is a common thing on a device such as this at the age it is. That also fits with the exact symptoms you describe.
The ONLY remedy is to get the unit serviced, however it may cost more to repair, than it is worth to replace? What you need to do is obtain a "Quote" first and go from there.
Contact a Black & Decker local or head office, and ask for a referral to a Husky, authorized service center, now when here FIRST ask for that "Quote" only, and once you have been appraised, make your mind up as to repair or replace?
Will a 750 inverter run
Looking at this, how many amps does the pump normally draw? Take this and multiply by 3 for start up current draw. Now, multiply that by 120 (volts) and this will give you the watts. Start up current is what will knock your inverter down. It won't kill the inverter but it will overload it on startup and turn off the unit. Since I do not know the size of your pump, this is my caution. You could always try it, the most that should happen is that the inverter will shut down.
How to adjust low
What is the normal low voltage cutoff? It converts AC to DC correct?Just comment and I will get an auto email that you did so and will reply ASAP.Greg
Does the unit have a fuse. I think i shorted it
Yes, I took this unit apart there are 3 40 amp fuses in the unit. (Similar to blade type car fuses). You have to completely unscrew everything plus take off the top lable and plate to access the other hidden screws
Appropriate size inverter for sump pumps
First...you need to find the amperage on the pump...your inverter is rated for 6.25 Amps...(750/120)...you will need an inverter bigger then the pump..I would suggest at least 1.5 times the size of the pump..bear in mind,..the inverter wasnt designed to start motors...so oversizing is needed..
Hope this helps
Power hook up
This type of inverter has large alligator clips on it because the amperage that comes through a cigarette lighter is insufficient and can result in blown fuses and overheating of the socket. Hook this one up directly to the battery without splicing a longer wire to it.
Fan doesn't run on my power inverter
I can't answer your question but I strongly suggest you urgently contact the manufacturer or dealer in order to clarify this most important point as a 3kw inverter isn't cheap and shouldn't need replacing very often.
The inverter turns on and fans run for
well the yellow light indicates a fault, the 5 volt USB is independent of the invert-er function, you kneed your unit serviced or possibly you have a low voltage cutout or high voltage protect ,check you manual for led fault indicator descriptions, battery voltages should be between 10.9 volts and 13.8 volts this can cause a fault if outside this range.best regards Falco
