I have just fitted a new transmission belt to my
You've probably put the belt on incorrectly or not put the clutch wheel or spring back correctly. When you press the clutch a jockey wheel on the drive belt should release the tension, allowing the belt to slip and the gears to be engaged.
Grease fittings for spindles
Some cheaper mowers don't have grease zirks for the spindle bearings. If you cleaned off the deck and you can't see them, the only thing to do is remove some shields and keep looking, or check with manufacturer details to see if it even has them. A simple call to a craftsman repair shop should be able to answer that question.
MTD tractor is "jumping teeth" on the drive shaft
There could be several things going on with the steering gear. First check and make sure there is no debris or rocks caught in the gear. Then check the up and down motion of the steering wheel, it could need some shims under the shaft due to wear. Also check and make sure the bolt on the cross member is tight as well as the steering gear half moon. Another good resource for steering wheel shaft service is to go to MTD website ( service,mtdproducts.com/Training_Education/769-00947_SM_600_Series_Box_Steering_Shaft,PDF) This can be found at the MTD website under training and education and has a step by step instruction on servicing the steering system. This should get you rolling and cutting again.
Yard machines rider mower would not go back or
Yard machine mowers are notorious for the shifter linkages getting bent or loose, it sounds like it's not engaging correctly and that you may need to get under it and see if anything is loose or obstructing that linkage. I know mine has that issue every season, the first thing I do is get under there and make sure everything is good to go, I tighten up the linkage and then I check the tension on the belts. The next time you fire it up, push the clutch in all the way, apply gentle pressure to the shifter for forward and back, and then let off gently on the clutch until it pops into gear and begins to move. If you can't get it to do it that way, then I'd say you need to replace the drive belt or adjust it.
