Water shoots out back instead of hose when engine is started

Problem description is very vague. The only thing for sure is that water seems to be coming out at the wrong place. Common problem could be related to improper storage. All water, or as much as possible, should be removed from the pump before cold weather storage. Many pumps are made from cast aluminum, which can easily crack or split from winter storage if enough water remained in the system during freezing weather. If it is an external part, such as the inlet or outlet tube, check the manufacturer for a replacement part, since these are sometimes replaceable. Another possibility could be a loose fitting on the pump. There is also an "O" ring on the connection to the outlet tube on the hose end. Check to make sure it is still there and not broken or crushed. Many hardware stores have "O" ring kits. It would be helpfull if you could pinpoint the source of the leak. Always separate the gun and hose from the pressure washer to drain out any remaining water. Freezing isn't the only problem since you could have hard water that will leave mineral deposits when the water evaporates. This, according to some manufacturers will not be covered by the warrantee so I guess is should be something to avoid. Good Luck.
