How to remove chuck
Check first to see if there is a screw or allen head bolt deep down in the centre of the chuck, securing it against loosening due to vibration. The trouble is the head of such a screw often gets damaged, making it difficult to remove.
Then the chuck itself will be screwed onto the spindle with a RH thread, so it tightens in normal use. It may be very tight, so insert a tight fitting steel stub into the chuck key hole, and hit it sharply.
If it is a keyless chuck, there should be a slot there somewhere to fit a piece of metal into so you can hit it. Use a piece of soft steel or copper if you have it.
How to---
chuck removal DC925 drill
Open the chuck fully. Inside the center bottom of the chuck you will normally find a reverse threaded lock screw that you must first remove. If it is hard to loosen, you may need to heat it with a micro torch or a heat gun to make the thread lock compound slip. Then fasten the smaller end of an allen key firmly into the jaws of the chuck. Engage the low gear. Then hit the longer end rapidly with a hammer to unscrew the chuck by rotating it anti clockwise.
How to remove the chuck from a dewalt cordless
Remove the REVERSE-THREAD screw at the bottom of the chuck. Set the clutch collar to the highest setting, and set the gear to the slowest setting on the transmission. Remove the power source! Get the biggest allen wrench you can fit in the end of the chuck(the shortest leg) and tighten the chuck down around it, allowing the jaws to rest and tighten on the flats of the wrench. Lay the drill on its side(chuck toward you, handle to the left, and allen wrench to the left, horizontal to the deck. Then with a hammer(soft hammer if you care about the allen wrench) quickly and deliberately hit the allen wrench in an attempt to cause the allen wrench to spin counter clockwise. Let me know if this works for you!
Remove existing phillips no chuck avalible in this model
Take a phillips screw driver and stick it into one of the key holes. Then take a flat head screwdriver and stick in one of the slots. And prise against the phillips.
Or you can wrap a belt or strap around the chuck hold it tight, then put the drill in reverse and unscrew it.
Amount of torque per setting in dewalt dc925 xrp
The torque settings are not tightly controlled so they are not all that repeatable from drill to drill. They also vary somewhat with the speed of the drill and the condition of the battery. And they aren't linear (a setting of 10 is not twice the 5 setting) Simplest thing to do for a rough idea is to use your hand to hold the chuck still to feel how much torque you have at each setting. (start low and grip it tight!) If you want a specific torque setting, say 10 ft-lbs, then put a stout screw in a scrap of wood, hang a 10 lb weight on it 12 inches from the screw and adjust until it just starts to slip.
How to remove a chuck from a DeWalt hand drill
Open chuck all the way (like for a large drill bit). There should be a set screw at the bottom (where you would put a drill bit). Don't turn too hard - it may be a left handed screw (I don't remember if it is a lefty for sure but try gently each way then with a bit more force each way until it moves).
Good luck.
The light flashing is signaling a problem
Could be either the charger OR the battery. Before spendin anything on a replacement try cleaning the battery and charger terminals with a Q-Tip moistened with alcohol. Even a small buildup of dust can cause the fault.
