The batteries may be too old to take a charge. They are gell cell types and can be had at any battery shop. You can get them on line too, but shipping will be high.

Yes the batteries will be failing and the brake will kick in automaticly

My advice is to buy a good used one on ebay. There are some real bargains to be had! I really don't regret mine. If you have to travel to get one remember that even the good low cost airlines like Flybe carry scooters free of charge -you just need to ask in advance

Have the controller looked at . The speed knob may be the culprit too.

While this can be done I do not suggest it. The lock out system is then overridden and the scooter can become dangerous. Also the charger and other electronics will not function correctly. Replacing the switch can be easily done. Parts can be obtained through monsterscooter.com

The serial number is on the frame. On this model the SN may be on a tag under the rear cross frame OR remove the rear plastic cover under the seat and find the SN to the right of the seat post on the frame. Pride can run the SN with their SN decoder to give you the month and year of manufacture 1-800-800-8586.
The parts manuals are available if you have dealer access on line. You may be able to call Pride and have them send you a printed one. Hope this helps.
With a used scooter, you may have to invest in a set of 2 new U-1 batteries fairly soon. These are available locally and on-line at a big discount. They are simple to install. Hope this helps.

This should simply be a case of lifting the seat up and off (please be careful, they are quite heavy), then remove the rear plastic cover/shroud that id located directly beneath the seat. There should be two batteries located directly underneath this plastic cover. You may need to hold the seat rotation lever upwards to remove the seat. Hope that has helped.

It may be something as simple that you have picked up a twig or a piece of litter. Lie on the floor and look underneath with a flashlight or get a young person to do it..
