Remington Electric Chain Saw - Page 7 Questions & Answers
I can't find a replacement
Are you aware RemingtonPower is no longer in production (name purchased by MTD)? I am not certain whether you need a bar or chain so I provide both. I ask you retrace my steps to verify the part numbers I supply.
A link to an OM for your saw follows:
http://www.desatech.com/manuals/Chainsaws/model_m30016aw_manual_113005-01g.pdf
A parts listing is near the end of the manual. Items 2 (bar, pn EL16SB if 16" $22.99) and 3 (chain, 16SC if 16" $17.99) apply.
Both are available here:
PartsFor.com (authorized parts supplier)
http://www.partsfor.com/
Please use the phone and a credit card to protect yourself should problems arise; get the name of your service rep.
Please count the drive links (the part that fits in the bar groove) and verify there are 58 (16" chain).
You can likely take your existing chain to a local chainsaw seller/mechanic where it can be duplicated cheaper in about 5 minutes.
If you have more questions or need additional help please reply below and I will get back to you. HTH & Good Luck.

Electric motor on remington
If it is under warranty, then swap it.
If not, then check the brushes.
If they are ok, then repair is most likely more than its worth.
Make sure the switch or cord is not the problem.
Check for a thermo overload reset.
But most likely it is toast, I would guess.

My chain on the remington elec saw will not spin
Assuming that you do not have something jamming the mechanism (twigs etc.), your chain has been disabled and needs to be replaced. To do this your best bet is probably to look on Ebay or one of the other auction sites. As you probably know the reference above no longer is carrying Remington 6 inch chains.

What kind of oil does
Use any bar and chain oil. Can be bought at most big-box-stores (Home Depot, Lowes) or stores that sell outdoor power equipment. Don't use motor oil, you'll have a mess when you store the saw.

I have a Remington 1.5
Use bar and chain oil. It sounds obvious but it is marked as such and is as thick as honey to stick the the chain better. Most any box store (Home Depot, Lowes) will carry it as well as any store that carries out door power equipment. Don't use motor oil, it will drain out of your saw fast and doesn't lubricate the bar as well.

I was using my Remington 14'' limb N' trim chain
First, inspect the chain for bent links or other damage. If ok, loosen the bar mounting nut(s) and turn the tension adjust screw CCW until the chain can be passed over the sprocket, then threaded over the far end of the bar. Make sure the chain cuts toward you on the bottom. Turn the adjusting screw CW until the chain begins to tighten. Proper adjustment is when the lower run of chain doesn't droop from the bar, yet allow easy movement of the chain by hand. Tighten the mounting nut(s) and recheck the chain adjustment. Pay attention to chain droop and readjust as needed during use of the saw. Make sure it is being properly oiled by running the saw in front of a piece of cardboard for several moments--it should throw off a thin line of oil. Hope this helps!

What kind of oil is required for the chain and is
There should be a filler cap in the front of the saw, it uses Bar and chain oil, I use two stroke oil, it is thinner but works great, only replaced one bar in twenty years, sometimes I mix it with chain oil, and most new saws oil themselves automatically, keep the tip out of the sand and dirt and make sure it doesn't turn blue from heat, then you will know it is not oiling itself. Sometimes I pour oil directly on the chain to get it going, hope this helps.

Hello Peggy: Ohio? I have a cousin there.
Back to your problem.
RemingtonPower is no longer in production. The name has recently been purchased by
MTD. It appears they are offering a few selected parts. A cover to fit your saw is now available.
I went here and input model M15014AS, followed the directions and when possible selected the IPD. I found Item 28, pn 107711-01, is NLA everywhere.
The "Sprocket Cover (containing the bushing)" is available "Item 6, pn 113007-01 - USE REPLACEMENT PART # 116675-01, NLA @ Remington Power but is available @ PartsFor.com. Please check my work below.

If me I would use the phone number provided, ensure it will fit your saw, it includes the bushing, order with a credit card (recover your investment much easier), get the name of the service person helping me and the name of her/his supervisor.
Once I had it hand and it fit I would likely apply some double sided tape to preclude its loss again.

Hi, I stripped the nylon sprocket on my Remington LNT-2 12"
Claude I just hung up they are closed today but still in business and you can place your order on line. The part number you provided is good, 2 choices return. I would likely use 122511-01 because it includes a replacement bearing.
Master Distributers is the only reliable source for parts I have found, Canada or USA.
