My basement had a lot
It may be gathering water, but the tubing to the drain bucket may be clogged. Turn the unit off, unplug it and remove the drain bucket. With a flashlight, look up into the interior of the cabinet and you will see a small tube or water outlet. Using a flexible Zip Tie (at least 6' long), carefully insert it into the drain tubing or hole. And carefully move it back and forth. This should remove any clogs.
Also, check the filter on the unit, as it to may need cleaning, too.
If you've had this unit for a number of years and the above trouble shooting doesn't solve the problem, it may be time to replace the unit.
Also, if you continually have "a lot of water" in your basement, you might want to install a sump pump. In the long run, it's a better solution and will pay for itself in a couple of years.
