Sony SLV-D380P DVD Player/VCR Questions & Answers
Can Sony D380P play blue ray disc.?
If your player is the Sony SLV-D380P, the unit does not play Blu-ray discs. It is only a DVD player and VCR. It can play some CDs. The discs must be finalized for homemade video DVDs and audio CDs. You can find the specifications and manuals here: https://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=SLVD380P&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab .
I hope this helps.

Hi. The DVDs work fine but I can't see videos only listen to them
Hi, I just looked your machine up, a DVD/VCR combo. "IF" the RCA or whatever you used (whoops sorry about the bold type), if they are attached correctly, I have a Toshiba DVD/VCR combo, and while you'd think it would be easy to hook it up on mine, it was not, double check your manual (I do not mean to be condescending, as I messed it up at 1st also), there also was an activate the vcr part button, and one for the DVD, which I always hit by accident.
On my machine as well, the VCR had to be hooked up on say TV's Video 1, and the DVD on TV's Video 2. Please don't hate me if you've already done this. I am sure you know that it's usually just some little darned (that says DARNED but looks like DAM you know what) thing, which I would swear "Was not in the book when I read it the first 17 times!" Relax, and you will be victorious!
Sony vcr combo no picture
hi,because you have audio the problem is on the video head of your VCR If you have a VHS cleaner run it on the player and until you can have a picture If still video is missing clean the video head manually open the top cover then you can see a stainless round drum this is the video head get a a small piece of bond paper moistened it with an alcohol the wipe it on the side surface of the drum where you can see the heads repeat the procedure until you obtain picture (make sure you turn power off or unplug before cleaning it manually)
Which components is responsible for
Auto tracking, or 'digital tracking' as it is sometimes known, is generally governed by the CTL (the linear control track head), located toward the right-hand side of the main head cylinder drum, along with a combination of the guide posts/rollers, the capstan speed as the tape travels in the deck, and of course the drum balance since this rotates the fastest. Usually this is pre-aligned to factory standard, but as parts wear down, the alignment changes - hence your 'tracking query'.
Presuming you have a video picture from your tapes on the TV screen, you can bet the tracking is controlled electro-mechanically (as above). One of the first parts on the mech to wear out is the rubber pinch roller - when it becomes glazed or shiny, tapes can be chewed and/or the 'control track' drifts during playback - more so than when recording.
Nevertheless, it is usually a simple workshop repair involving inexpensive part replacement/alignment on the mechanism including a new pinch roller and cleaning of the entire tape path. The only 'cost' would be labour on top of the parts. The option here is that you can submit your unit to a workshop/service centre for a quote on repair/parts costs first, then decide if you want the tracking fixed - up to you. I hope you have no other really serious issue with this combo unit - SONY is a premium brand - trusted and reliable. I assume the DVD section works fine.
Remember; bad tracking is not always a mechnical mis-alignment - it can also be the quality/age/condition of the tapes a person uses as well, even if that person doesn't 'thrash' tapes on a daily basis. From memory, the SLV-D380P is one of SONY's better DVD/VCR combos.
We are trying to hook
Hi,
Let me know what video cable is being used for connection setup between SLV-D380P and Samsung tv?
SLV-D380P has yellow-red-white (composite video) output and red-green-blue (component video) output jacks at rear.
Do you get Logo screen of SLV-D380P in tv when unit turns On? Do you get sound in tv while playing back DVD disc or VHS tape?
Let me know bit details to sort out problem.
Thanks.
My sony dvd vhs player is displaying only black
You have the Chanel Finder activated, usually a small switch on back, or somewhere it is used to give a "Pilot Signal" so the TV set can be tuned.to that signal, after you find it, you turn it OFF on the VCR. Or maybe the remote, check in your manual.
I HAVE MY DVD PLAYER FOR ONE YEAR WITH
You may need to clean the DVD player's lens because it hardly reads the discs that is why you are experiencing that problem. If you have a disc cleaner, try playing it; having it spin for like 30 seconds will clean the lens. If this does not work, then you may have to manually clean the lens by opening the DVD's casing and unscrewing the plastic cover that protects the lens inside. Get a q tip or a cotton bud and damp it in an alcohol. Gently wipe the surface of your lens and let it dry for a few seconds. The return everything back and play those DVDs again.
Good luck and hope this helps.
