Fan doesn't turn

Check to see if the fan motor has a separate fuse, if not then check to see if it has power (120 volts ac) with a DMM or volt meter. If it does then the fan motor needs replaced, if it dosen't then the fuse needs replaced or if it doesn't have a fuse, check to see if the switch is working correctly.

If you don't have a DMM or volt meter, or you do and don't feel comfortable testing it, then you'll need to have n a/c repair technician come out or take it into them if its portable.

Why does it freeze

There are two likely reasons for freezing.
1. Lack of airflow across the evaporator which is caused by plugged filters or dirt/dust blocking the fins. Clean filters and dirt from the unit.
2. System lacks adequate refrigerant (Freon) find leak, repair and recharge.

Motor broke where can I

If a window unit it would better to replace the complete air conditioner than to replace the compressor. Compressors new cost a good bit and you need to pay labor too. You need to consider that the old compressor may have been a burnout contaminating the complete sealed system with an acid and carbon. Sea Breeze

I have a Goldstar window unit 6500 BTU it has Cool, Fan, and Dry

in all honesty, it's a ridiculous gimmick. the system still runs the same as it would when you are using the A/C, however in Dry Mode there is a small heater in the unit which runs also, to prevent the system from lowering your room's air temp. a/c's always dehumidify air anyway, so basically dry mode is like running a/c and heat at the same time. $$$$$$.

My Air Conditioner makes a loud buzzing noise now. It didn't do that before, now it makes so much noise I can't hear anything over it

Buzzing noise - contactor. maybe a bug got in the contacts or maybe the coil is bad but in any case if you replace the contactor the buzz will go away.

Air Conditioner just idles and never blows air never used it before

See if you can spin the fan motor. If not look for the cause something bent or a fan blade pushed out of line. Or maybe stuck bearings. If it spins the problem may not be the motor but further checking is required to eliminate that or proceed to where the problem is.

If so the problem may be in the switching or board if equipped with one. A voltage check will eliminate or send you to the area that needs checking. If this is not your area of expertise call or take to a pro for service.

Please rate me as high as you can and thank you for using fixya.

Air conditioner not cooling

You can't tell if you have a refrigerant leak unless you put gauges on. You may not have any sign of a leak and still be out.

Working right and in a safe manner?

The condensation has to be going somewhere if not out the drain tube, if unit is working correctly, just hope it's not running down inside your window frame and rotting something. Keep looking, I would.

Air condictioner help

Turn it off. Remove the filter . Clean the filter. When filter is out look to see if there is ice behind where the filter was. If so, let it melt. With the filter removed you should be able to at least see a little of the drain pan...which could be blocked up.If blocked, unblock it. When done, place filter back in unit, turn on, observe.

I'm assuming it is a window unit and not central air.

I hope you don't need anyone to tell you that it can't be pitched towards the inside of the house ;)

that would do it too.

My air conditioner is making noises

You must look into the machine and find where the noise is coming from. Only then can a person recommend what to do about the noise.
