Have you recently formatted your Laptop? if yes then check for your driver? is your sound driver up-to-date? if not then install the latest driver. if your sound driver is fine then connect a external Speaker and see find out if you can hear the sound. If no then check in your BIOS, Is your On board Sound is enable? If all the above is fine then there might be some problem with your laptop speaker or on the board.

Unplug from the mains and then remove the battery. Leave for ten minutes then put the battery back on. If it still does not work then it has had it. turn it over so you can access the underside and locate the one screw that holds the drive to the chassis. remove the screw and the drive will slide out. Take the drive to a computer shop and buy a replacement. refit in reverse and all will be well.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it you might have to uninstall then restart your computer then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this right click to install driver also click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound,video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers click start control panel sounds and audio,volume,advanced,speakers make sure you have selected the (((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there also click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar if his does not fix the problem

Check online for the drivers for your sound card. If you install the drivers and it still doesn't work, replace the sound card.

Optical drive removal varies among notebooks. Some have quick-release gadgets, which may be on the bottom of the notebook or in the memory compartment. Some have screws that need to be removed from the notebook bottom. On my Satellite Pro 6000, it's on the bottom, aligned with the drive, but halfway to the other side of the case. If this is the case, pop it out. Get the model number off of the drive; you may have to replace it with the same one. While most optical drive chassis are standard, the drawer fronts are different, and not necessarily exchangeable.

If you know how to boot the computer into bios look for the boot section and check to see if the cd rom is there if not change the settings to show a cd rom and than save and reboot but i think you may have damaged the cd rom when you forced it open these are pretty delicate devices , force should never be used .
