Take time to get used to the settings, you may think the screen looks dull at first. The truth is most people have way too much contrast on their TVs.
These settings will also work for Cable or Dish hookups, in which case you may change the Noise Reduction option to Medium to reduce signal noise.

I have just brought the bose companion 3 speakers and i connected it to the headphone socket in my tv and it worked.

Enter the password "7777".

On the back of the TV, there are 4 screws holding the stand. Remove the 4 screw and the stand will slide out from the bottom.

To let you know , there jave been may claims against this 42" model There were some models released that had faulty power boards and video controller boards. LG recalled many of these to have them replaced

No picture and sound is Y +Z Sustainer problem.However, normally they have to change both Y Sus and Z Sus boards atthe same time. If you lucky than it's just a fuse on the Y sustainerblown (the chance is very rare) otherwise the IPM (Intelligence PowerModule) on the Y/X sustainer board is short. This is a common problemand costly to repair.
Is it under warranty or Extended 5 year warranty? If so get it repaired now.

Call customer service for help 877-543-8325 to try them first

If you are skilled in electronics the cost of parts is about $250 online (Otherwise add another $400 for labour and travel if you use a tech ) Always ask for a quote first))

There is AUDIO Line out RCA jacks on the back, not speaker level output. You can get manual here: http://tv.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/lg/42lg50_1.html

There is a switch behind and under the screen on the lower right side of the set.
Just slip your hand on the right side, behind the screen in the lower end and you will find it. Switch the button on.
