i bought anew gpswith the upgrades alreadyinstalled

these are just the common errors in the programmed maps stored inside the unit, I have had a GPS for years and have had this happen many times to my suregrin, sent down dirt roads, routed around in circles and so on.

The only way to do this is through an update.

Nextar does have a 2009 SD card with new maps on it. Go to their website, look in the lower right hand corner, and there is a link to the new maps update.

It has a list of compatible devices. If yours is on the list, then that's it!

Check the Nextar website. They did recenlty release a 2009 map update, but if your GPS is not listed as compatible, it's not going to work.

e3ven outside australia the maps are available for all countries and the unit is reliable and easy to service, also has a mkap backup service if registered.

my "Tevio" GPS, was doing the same thing, still under warranty, I sent it back and they replaced it, didn't repair it, so should contact manufacturer

"Stuck" Doesn't quite tell me enough information to offer a definte clue as to what is happening.

1) If it does not navigate and just stays on a previous map the it is not locking onto satellites.
There are a e few reasons this might happen.
a) The battery is not charged enough
Use the AC charger
b) The unit is not set up to the right baud rate or the correcyt port
Go to settings and either use the AUTO to get it right or enter the correct parameters from the manual
c) The unit does not have a clear view of the sky
d) The SIIRF chip is damaged from having the unit plugged in when starting the engine

The unit turns on and shows the menu, you select navigate and it commeneces to load and then stops and does not proceed.

a) The maps are corrupted
b) The battery is low

CHARGE then RESET THE UNIT Hold power button and use a paper clip to push reset button.

make sure the sd card has not been altered or formatted as all the information and map is on the provided SD card.

Solution #1 is incorrect. Just bought on of these units at K-Mart the other day. The X3-03 uses NAVTEQ maps, it's even mentioned in the owners manual. Plus there is no CD software that comes with the unit. Plugging the unit into any PC just makes the PC make connect and disconnect alert sounds repeatedly until the unit is unplugged from the USB port. It never even asks where the driver files are. 
I to contacted Nextar through email and asked about updates to the unit and maps. This was their response:

at this time there are no updates for yout X3-03

There is no map data or it has become corrupted get the maps reinstalled

garmin has the feature built into it. though sometimes it will take you down a hog path.

yes you can but you need to download from the internet....

the structure of the data is incorrect take it back to the seller for rectification.

thenyou have a real problem! Navman will charge you a new licence fee to replace it, ( unless you can convince them that it happened as an act of God) Good luck. usinf piratede siftware will cause a lock up

No there is not any free maps or upgrades its all done throught the manufacture to advoid viruses and theft of maps/upgrades
