FL means, filter check warning. To get rid of it, Press the 'mode" and " " (down) buttons simultaneously for 3-5 sec.

I had a similar issue, albeit a different brand of air condenser, and it turned out to be a relay capacitor that controlled the valve I suspect you are speaking of. However, I did have both the valve and capacitor replaced...just to be safe.

Have you changed the air filter?The 2 main reasons for frozen units in cooling mode 1. Not enough air flow. 2. Low on refrigerant.You can fix #1.#2 will require a service call.

I did some more research on your issue and it sounds like it could be a capacitor issue. Go to the back of your outside unit and look inside the access panel with the electrical warning sticker on it, if the capacitor is bowed up at the top, it needs to be replaced. If it turns out to be the capacitor, follow this link for a new capacitor replacement kit, it will save you hundreds of more dollars than calling an HVAC repair company to charge you an arm and a leg. If the exterior fan is not turning the first things I would change is the contactor - relay and the capacitor.

The capacitor is probably not adequate or was hooked up wrong. I have three AC units and another capacitor went out this year and I found a kit with detailed instructions with pictures and phone support at hvacrepairkits.com.

Do yu mean the compressor unit is in the atticor the indoor blower unit. If its the indoor blower unit thats fine though kinda hard to work on but it keeps the noise down. If its the compressor unit.. Hm mmm Not the best place for it . hard to work on and noisy I'll bet

It could be either really . But if you have a choice in this day and time I would use R22- BUT remember they are beginng to ban it as well .. I have personal feeling about this but they are mine But in your case either will be fine .
