LG LFX23961ST Support Manuals Warranty More LG
I just used the link above to get the Manuals on your LG. On page 31, they did the following CYA statements...
The defrost timer will click when the automatic defrost cycle begins and ends. The thermostat control (or refrigerator control, depending on the model) will also click when cycling on and off.
Rattling noises may come from the flow of refrigerant, the water line, or items stored on top of the refrigerator .
Your refrigerator is designed to run more efficiently to keep your food items at the desired temperature.
The high efficiency compressor may cause your new refrigerator to run longer than your old one, and
you may hear a pulsating or high-pitched sound.
You may hear the evaporator fan motor circulating the air through the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to the refrigerant flowing in your refrigerator.
Contraction and expansion of the inside walls may cause a popping noise.
Water dripping on the defrost heater during a defrost cycle may cause a sizzling sound.
You may hear air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan.
You may hear water running into the drain pan during the defrost cycle.
I bolded the statement. Sounds like you are going to have to get used to the sound.

Serious leaking probably coming from
Most likely the water inlet valve is no longer shutting the flow.
It's part 614A in this diagram

You will have to open the unit and access the valve to see if the fault is in it or one of the pipes leading to it have burst.
Error message: Er 1F
You have a problem with the ice room fan motor. It will not send freezing cold air to the icemaker. You will need to have a qualified technician replace the fan motor.
Good luck
Error code is 1F -
My 2 year old LG LFX23961ST refrigerator started showing error code Er IF. In searching help here,
I found out it meant the problem was with the Ice maker Fan. When I checked the ports where the cold air blows into the Ice maker compartment, there was no cold air coming out (you have to hold the door switch in to turn on the fan). I removed the ice maker module (two screws) and unplugged it. When I closed the door, the fan started running, but was making a rattling noise. I suspected ice build up.
Emptying out the freezer compartment, I pulled the rear cover of the compartment off and found what I had suspected. Cleaned out the ice, put everything back together and Voila! Everything working again.
As I write this, I can hear ice dropping into the ice holding tray. Not sure yet why the whole ice blockage thing happened though. Will keep an eye on it. It's been several hours since the repair and no issues. All seems well. It's not rocket science. If you can use a screwdriver, you can fix it too.
I have an ER 1F.
1. yes. Open ice room door (back side of left hand refrig door) and turn toggle switch on icemaker to OFF. 2. yes. Do step 1 and connect water to refrig. 3. ER IF (Error Ice room Fan) may still come up. If it does and you don't like it, you could probably avoid that by removing the fan blade from the ice room fan, located in the freezer section, behind the back wall, upper left hand corner. The error code pops up when the electronic board does not see a feedback signal from the ice room fan. Removing the fan blade should allow the motor to run, thus sending the feedback signal to the board, preventing the code from appearing.
Pieces of white plastic in my crushed ice
check the ice maker, the base rots out where the water forms into ice cubes or check the tray and the auger to see if a part of it broke off and is grinding up with the ice cubes
