The power switch lights up
I have the same problem. 4 of the screws underneath are star-shaped and you will need the appropriate screwdriver for it. I purchased a "set" with heaps to choose from. The other 6 or so are normal. Don't forget to remove the rubber feet and get to the screws under there, too.
Hope that helps! I've had mine apart 3 times trying to fix this problem. Hint: It's probably not the power cord - I tried that already. If you figure it out, let me know, because I'd love to fix mine!

Breville blender bbl550 stopps after 5 seconds any setting
Mine does this as well... 5 seconds of operation and then OFF.
My guess is this is a fail safe where the blender is turning itself off to avoid overheating and what could potentially cause this overheating is the blender is struggling to turn the blades. What could cause this struggling of turning the blades I am guessing is a lack of oil in the blades rotating parts.
If you hold the circular blade part and turn it, you'll probably find that its hard to turn? Mine is... and I oiled it up a bit and found I got a bit more usage out of it... although only temporarily.
Ideally I need to pull it apart and oil it properly.

Hello, I didn't see model #BBL600XL which is what
The jar has to be on for it to blend.If you replace the jar first check the printing on your old jar. If your jar has blue print you will need a new jar and blade, Breville redesigned the jar and now the old blades don't work with the new jars. The motor on my blander doesn't just stop
There is a one year limited warranty on that blender to contact breville customer service for a replacement due to the motor being under the warranty of the unit you would dial 1-866-BREVILLE OR 1-866-273-8455 this is where i also found your warranty information on the unit as well

What is the difference between the BBL550XL 5 spee...
Basically, the more your pay the more you get.
Extras are:
Pre-programmed 'Ice Crush' and 'Smoothie' settings
1200W instead of 1000W.
Heavy duty die-cast metal base
LCD display counts up when a speed setting is selected or counts down for pre-programmed settings
