Join the orange to the red wire, and then join the brown to the white wire. I have done that and everything is working perfectly (except of course the pre-programming which the clock would do).

You must remove the cabinet from around the ovens to access the parts.

The timer IC oscillator is not working, you my need to replace the board.

I can only speak for the 720. If you want a circuit/wiring diagram for this one, then I need an email address. I will then register this on my BT Digital Vault and you can the download the whole manual.
Looking at the diagrams, the neon for the main oven has white and black wires.
The white wire from the main oven neon goes onto the same connector on the thermostat block as the white wire to the oven element. The black wire from the neon goes to a common terminal on the top oven neon, which then goes onto P6 of the top oven switch (still black wire).

I would suggest the wrong wires were cut off and joined. If the ground wire touches the power wire a fuse or circuit breaker will blow.. Before you do anything more make sure the curcuit breaker is not blown. If it is reset it and turn the cooker back on. If the breaker blows again then it is wired wrong.

Try taking the power wire that goes into the timer and the power wire that comes out of the timer and put them together not hooked to the timer and that should work. If that works you should solder them together and electrical tape them good. Make sure the power is off when you do this so you don't cook yourself.

It is very possible the control board is going bad. Before replaceing the control board pull the connectors and reinstall them. There could be a bad connection causing the display not to lioght up completly. If that doesn't work then it looks like control board time.

Look for any burned or discoloration on the bottom bake element. Did you try the broil on the lower oven? If neither is working you may have a board or touchpad issue.

I don't think that the lights are repairable,it looks to me that they are part of the timer display and if this is the case it would not really be a diy job.

When you replaced the burnt out selector did you notice any other damage? The selector switch may be connected to the energy input control. Most circuits have some sort of control, allowing only the right amount of energy to be put in. If this got damaged, the fuse would be inconsistent. Elisa Jed ' http://www.atlasappliances.com
