replace C42. easy fix. ordered the new capacitor from amazon (100uf 35v)

It blows the fuse because a semiconductor device has developed a short (in otherwords acting like it was just a piece of wire). Because of the noise I would suspect the main amp device is the cause. It will be most likely on a heatsink.

As long as its not blowing the fuse it can be saved - look for Edwards Electronics - Ebay - We fix them . Thanks.

More likely to be the Class D power amp module, but you should look through the service manual to make sure all the parts are installed correctly. My PB10 AMP module went out and you cannot get one anymore.

I have the same problem with my Creative Labs Sub-woofer, which I plan to strip and inspect, as I do electronics. I've read elsewhere that a faulty capacitor can cause this motor-boating screech. If your sub can be opened, unplug and look for bulging caps. The silver top should be flat. Rounded top usually indicates a blown cap. Meanwhile, I bought another surround setup, by Logitech.

Fuses blow when something is shorted. In this case it will be a semi-conductor of some kind. If the device uses IC for the main amplification then you are right to be worried! The 158 amp is totally unsuitable for the JBL. This is the specification of the JBL:

• Recommended Amplifier Power 10 Watt
• they are also 4 Ohm speakers.
• 158 is: Output Impedance / Channel 8 Ohm.

you can change the fuse or wrap it with aluminum foil
