Sorry Richard, Sounds like you are correct, you bought the wrong type of pump...if your looking for pressure/output you might consider purchasing a "sprinkler pump"...they will go past 70psi and morePlease take time to rate meBud

CANNOT GET NEW PUMP TO PRIME,OLD PUMP WAS WORKING FINE JUST LEAKING AROUND MOTOR/PUMP HOUSING,BEST WAY TO PRIME NEW PUMP IS MY QUESTION

A shallow well pump needs to be primed. On the bottom of the well above the sandpoint there should be a foot valve (check valve) installed. On the top of the pump there is a fill cap. Fill the pump until it is filled to the top. I Replace the fill cap and start the pump. If there is air remaining in the well attempt a second time. If the pump can not be filled it would indicate that the check valve is not working\ or the water level in the well is low. cannot-get-new-pump-prime-old-pump-edcyhy51ohkznhh1wg1ly0d0-3-0.jpg cannot-get-new-pump-prime-old-pump-edcyhy51ohkznhh1wg1ly0d0-3-2.jpg Hope this helps?

Once the water is shut off the pump keeps running

the pump is controlled by the storage tanks pressure switch , if it continues to run well after the pressure tank has refilled with water , either the switches manual override has been activated (lever) or its defective or blocked off with mud

Why would my 1 hp pump only maintain 45 psi running 1 garden hose?

Without knowing all your variables with well it is hard to say. Bladder tank needs to have 30 psi with no water pressure. It is possible that the screen down the well is restricted and you are only getting that much water. Or you may have clogged impeller in pump.

Blade wont spin

Impeller is loose on the shaft, or coupling is broken if it has one.

Why is the pump not shutting off after the faucets are turned off

It should turn off after it pressurizes again. Might take a minute.

Can the pressure switch on the Utilitech 1hp convertible shallow well pump be changed from 20/40 to 30/50?

Yes, if the plumbing can handle the extra pressure. There should be a nut in the middle of a large spring inside the pressure switch. Turn that nut clockwise to increase the pressure. You may need to run some water to keep the pump cycling while you do this.

I have a utilitech convertable pump. It is used as a shallow well pump at the moment. It worked fine untill last week, the hot water tank went bad and we replaced the tank and all the above ground li

Hi mid_age_elf Your problem is that your "water bound"...Your water tank must have a cushion of air for the pressure switch to work properly.Turn off your pump and drain about 1/3 of the water from your tank.Once you have an "air cushion" the pump and switch will work properly. You can also add air pressure using an air compressor and an air valve installed on the top of your water tank or maybe on the side or bottom of the tank. You would put air into the tank until about 1/3 of the water is gone replaced with the air.Once that is complete your problem will be solved. Please take time to rate meBud

I have a Utilitech 1hp shallow well jet pump which turns off and on rapidly while using water. I have 25 psi in the air tank. I replaced the pressure switch and still have problems.

Good you got it working. Please post again if you have more trouble on this or another item. Also be sure and check what I mentioned just in case you are operating at the margins, don't want a failure right after you got it going!

Sump pump will not pump water, won' turn on, floater up

There are a few things that could cause this problem to come up. Pretty much all of them do require taking the sump pump apart a bit though. I would suggest having a professional come to help you if you don't have much experience with this kind of work. Hopefully you can get this resolved fairly quickly. http://www.rite-waywaterproofing.com/sump_pump_install.php

Are you trying to view it, once it has already been installed? If that is the case, you will have some trouble. You will need to call a professional (preferably the installer) to come help you. New utilitec pump cuts on and off, won't hold pressure

I do not know your system however it sounds like it is on a well system. If so the pressure tank is water bound and needs to be drained. There is a air regulator that needs repair or replacement. I am just taking a guess.
