Try restoring the Belkin back to the factory default by powering up the Belkin and pressing the RESET button on the back of the Belkin for 7 secs. Then connect a LAN cable from the computer to the Belkin, open IE browser and type the configuration IP address and configure the wireless settings ie. SSID, encryption etc. The computer wireless cards will need to be configured with the Belkin wireless settings to allow them to communicate with the Belkin.

Make sure you entered the same key exactly the same way in both the router and the computer. Also, make sure you have selected a Security protocol that is supported by the computer. Some versions of Windows do not support WPA. XP supports it but really doesn't like to auto detect it. If it's a HP laptop make sure you are using a communications channel other than 6. Some routers give you an option to select the channel HP computers don't like working with channel 6.

Please try the following things:
First make sure that the router's ip is indeed 192.168.2.1.
Go to Start->Run and type cmd and press enter. On the command dialog that opens type ipconfig and press enter. See what the Default Gateway is. That is the address to your router.

The other thing to try is to connect the router with an ethernet calbe directly to your computer. (that is if you are currently using wireless)

You mean wireless or bluetooth.Because if you try to connect you laptop with a bluetooth adapter on a wireless network, it won't work.They are to different technologies.

You're better off buying a better, new router (one that includes a "Self Healing" feature that will basically reboot the router automatically on a set schedule). Also, try a different brand, Belkin is infamous for making routers that constantly drop connections.

Just reset the modem. There is s small hole in the back that you push the point of a pen in and hold for 10 second. That will reset all the setting including the password.

WIRELESS SECURITY ISSUES

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer ( Wired)

Step 2 : Open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.2.1 on the address bar of internet explorer

Step 3 : On the left under wireless click wi - fi protected setup

Step 4 : Leave the password blank and click on submit

Step 5 : Disable it and Click on apply changes

Step 6 : On the left under wireless click Security

Step 7 : Enable 64 Bit WEP

Step 8 : Type a 10 digit number on the key 1 ( 2 in each box )

Step 9 : Click apply changes

Step 10 : on the left under wireless click channel and SSID

Step 11 :Change the Wireless channel to 6

Step 12 : Change the SSID to a different name ( no Spaces )

Step 13 : Click apply changes

Step 14 : Now Scan and connect to this network ( Wireless )

You do not need drivers for a Belkin router with any win OS.
Perform these steps:



You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

yes router is working good but your new laptop maybe operating system ned to be configure manually or reinstall wireless security in to your router

advise you to setup your security mode in to 64bit WEP is your new laptop use a windows 7 or vista.

Ok My friend lets we talk about your solution.
Before all so many questions coming to my main like

what type of Internet connection do you have :

1. IS DSL you need to know if your connection is Dynamic or PPOE. if you don't know just let me know the name of your Internet provider
2. if Cable is easy just only need to clone the mac Address of your computer and you will get connected.

Ok my friend let me know if you cant do it and request me a remote your PC.

Note:the model of Belkin do you have is a old model but still usable ok?you lost your connectivity for the activation of security package in to your windows,after you reset your Router all configurations are lose
