How do i replace a broken speaker in passport 9500i
The speaker is manufactured by PUI, but it is a custom OEM job for Escort. So you can't get it from any distributor or from PUI. In the late summer of 2007 Escort started installing a new "high temp" speaker. This new speaker looks just like the original speaker, but it is designed to be able to handle very high temperatures without blowing. If your 9500i is still in warranty, Escort will replace the speaker with the new "high temp" speaker, test and calibrate your 9500i, and install whatever their latest firmware is. If your 9500i is out-of-warranty, then you should call them and see if they will send you a replacement "high temp" speaker for a small charge. The speaker is easy to replace. A good while back I posted on radardetector.net detailed instructions on how to replace a 9500i speaker. It takes all of 10 minutes to do.
I HAVE A PASSPORT 95OOi AND I AM HAVING A PROBLEM
This is most likely caused by either a somewhat flaky power connection inside or on the back side of your car's cigarette lighter socket, assuming that you are using your 9500i's standard coiled Smartcord, or it is caused by excessive alternator ripple (electrical noise). Usually installing the optional direct wire power cable resolves this issue. Also Escort can reprogram your 9500i to desensitize its laser circuitry, but it would be better to try the direct wire power solution first. The direct wire solution usually resolves this problem, especially if you tap power in your fuse box from one of the higher amperage fuse terminals such as 15A. Why? Because the higher amperage fuses have heavier cable leading directly back to your car's battery and tend to be more free of electrical noise.

- There is no traditional fuse inside your radar. The only one that is protecting the wire is in the plug that goes into your cigarette lighter / ACC outlet. If your fuse blew and you replaced it with another 2 Amp or 3 Amp fuse and are getting no response I would start with the fuse that provides the power fuse to the outlet you were using when it blew. But no quick blow style fuse inside your radar.

Do you accidentally have it muted? The Mute button, located on PASSPORT's top panel and SmartCord. Have you turned up the volume on it? Volume Control (VOL) To increase or decrease the audio volume, press and hold the (+) or (-) volume control buttons located on the top case. A
sample alert tone will be generated, along with a corresponding bar-graph on the display. Once you have reached your desired volume level, simply release the button. This level will be stored in
memory. In Preferences Auto Volume is the default. This feature will increase the audio alert level automatically when the ambient noise in the vehicle is high. Good luck.

try slightly turning the plugin in the the lighter socket. Some of these are touch. Or try to take the metal prongs on the plugin and gently pry them outwards just a bit for a better connection.
