How do I defrost my upright freezer.How do I drain
what i did, was when i turned of my unit, i placed a sponge in the water container and every 15 minz or so, i kept removing the sponge and squeezing the excess water....the entire opperation took 2 hours

they can be defrosted by using a blow dryer on the evaporator coil.or most common way is to remove all the product in the freezer and turn the unit off and leave the door open. most units have a defrost heater and they self defrost but if you are building up frost then you may need to check the continuity on the heating element and replace if need to. or check and make sure the defrost timer is working properly
Self defrosting / but there is ice in the bottom
The most common thing that causes this is a stopped up drain. Thaw the ice out of the bottom and locate the drain hole (probably towards the back, possibly behind the back panel) and clear with with a stiff wire or coat hanger.
If the water is unable to drain from the freezer during the defrost cycle it collects in the bottom and freezes there when the freezer is running again.

sounds like you have an air leak around the top of the door seal,look along the seal to see if it touches all along the frame,if not, a hot cloth and a bit of pressure will bring it back in line. mine had same problem...
