Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator - Page 8 Questions & Answers
Water dispenser leaking
If you have a constant drip coming from the dispenser more than likely the water valve is partially stuck open. This is caused from a few things but the most likely cause is calcium and sedament build up in the lines. Water valves are easy to change. You just pull the fridge out from the wall, turn the water off and take the lower panal off. The valve is going to be either on the left or right side, wherever the water line from the wall goes. As far as the part goes I would order it from
www.apdepot.com or
www.repairclinic.com and I would also recommend putting an inline filter inbetween the wall and the valve, even if your machine has a built in filter. Reason being is the inline filter will be the first thing the water goes through, catching the sediment, etc in place of the valve. If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at

Water is on the floor once in 24 hours
If the water is showing on the freezer side, more than likely you have a clogged drain. This occurs when the machine goes into defrost and the melted ice somehow is prevented from draining and therefor refreezing and blocking the drain for the next defrost cycle. The best way to resolve this is to unplug the machine for atleast 24-48 hours to let all ice melt. Also note on the maytags these days they put a rubber piece called a duck bill on the bottom half of the drain which will also cause this over time. To access this piece you'll have to pull the machine from the wall and remove the lower panel and find the plastic drain and remove the duck bill If you need further help, I’m available over the phone at

Not staying cold
tell me do you hear a buzzing sound for about 5 sec ending with a click sound. every so often?? if so then you have a start device (relay) problem on the compressor you may think the unit is running b/c the lights are on and fan is on but if you hear that noise coming from the back of the unit while turned on then its the start relay or worse case the compressor is locked up..9-10 though usually its the start device
My refrigerator does not make ice or dispense water
The water tap is probably clogged. This is the water line that runs from to a nearby water pipe.Turn the small valve all the way in, then all the way out.Do this a couple of times and it should give the fridge water.
Water tube to ice tray freezing up
Repairmantx is correct. Your dual water control valve is oozing
water past the water valve that is used for the ice maker. Locate your model
number and search for a dual water control valve if you have a water dispenser.
Model numbers for Kenmore refrigerators looks like this example 325.326598. The first three numbers are the company that made your Kenmore refrigerator=> Kenmore - Who Made It for them?

My food in my freezer is getting fuzzy with frost, why??
if thers warm air leaking into the freezer this will happen, but if the rear inside wall of the freezers covered with a icy/frosty covering too, this indicates a defrost problem, remove rear wall inside panel in freezer and defrost with a handheld hair dryer, then test the defrost heater and thermostats both located on the evaporator coil thats frosted over, its most likely one of these or possibly the defrost A.D.C. control
Water dispenser not working
Check the water lines for any debris found inside. You may want to check the filter. Other than that it may be a weak motor.
Compressor won't start
Try dumping the compressor so it does not start under a load. sometimes the unloaders get stuck. you can do this by pulling the pin on the pressure relief or opening the bleader on the bottom of the compressor. Be careful when doing this because particals and water can be exausted when you do this.Capacitor can be tested but it has to be unloaded or you will get a bad shock. Some autopart stores check them if they offer the service.
Can't find model # or Plate
On the Kenmore refrigerators there is usually a sticker on the inside of the fresh food side. Normally on the right side and beside one of the vegtable drawers.
A lot of water leaking
You probably have a clogged drain line. Unplug the fridge for 24-48 hours with a towel by the drip pan for a simple fix.
