Have you checked the Jumper Settings on the Board? Download the Manual for the Specific Board and then follow the Directions for the Specific Set-up you are attempting. You then may have to go into the BIOS to make further modifications to the set up to make it do EXACTLY what you want it to...

You should have consulted the makers of your computer before going in for Windows 7 purchase. Any way I would recommend you that please check with your computer manufacturers which make of the motherboard will be compatible with the their system to avoid repetition of mistake. They are the right people to advise. Any make of motherboard is OK.

My p4v8x-x motherboard cannot detect my sata dvd drive

Try resetting you're bios...other than that, try replacing the connector (not out of the realm of possibilities it could be bad or not seated properly.) Try plugging it into another connector. Chances are, resetting the bios will probably do the trick. Other than that, the drive may be bad.

Asus rampage 2 extreme no beeps on first boot,

1 - Test the memory in another pc; if it's at fault change it completely.
2 - That 8 pin connector is there to provide extra power to the processor sources - either one or more of them are fried = replace motherboard or the processor itself is gone =  test it in another pc and replace it if necessary.

I can't find how to connect my dvd writer to the

If you are trying to connect your DVD Writer using an IDE cable, then:
1. First, make sure that you are connecting the IDE cale in the correct direction. Make sure that the Red (or colored) wire in the cable aligns with pin 1 in the connector.
2. If the cable & connector are aligned correctly, then try to find a replacement IDE cable without a missed pin or with the missed pin in the correct position. This can cause no harm to neither the DVD Writer nor the motherboard.

I inserted a DDR2 ram and the board stopped working thereafter

According to the manual for this motherboard it supports only DDR2 memory so you won't have done it any good installing DDR ram. Check with the manual that you have the correct DDR2 ram for the board and that you are installing the sticks in the correct slots.

The onboard ethernet card just stopped working. There is no fix I can find. I reinstalled windows and the drivers. once you instal the driver it only will start in safe mode.

Reboot your PC and hit F10 or F2 or any key it shows on your screen and go into BIOS setup and there should have one entry you can disable the onboard ethernet card.

Asus P5k ethernet slot on motherboard just stopp ed working

Try tis...
1) Re-installing windows will not fix the problem. Try re-installing the
Ethernet driver (LAN). This driver should be on ASUS install cd.

2) Sometimes ethernet will just stop working. Then you should just
purchase a new ethernet card. They are rather cheap. Check out
Newegg website. You may have to disable onboard Lan in Bios.

Mother bord(asus)

Hello suresh_7chan,
This can be either a software problem or a hardware proble.
Most likely hardware problem is the primary hdd. (Hard disk drive).
To check the hardware end of things. Re-check all data & power connections within the system, paying close attention to your primary hard disk drive. Most blue screens leave a message. If you can write down the message from a blue screen it can be helpful. (Some blue screens go by very fast & it may be too hard to write down the message generated by windows). Another suggestion. If your hdd is large enough, 80GB or more. You can load your windows CD into your CD-Rom drive & boot to the windows CD. In the few screens that windows will display during setup. You'll have the option to create a second partition within the free space of your hdd. Create a new partition & allow windows to do a quick format.
Once completed, install windows into that new partition. Up date windows to SP2, at least. If windows runs correctly without blue screens or sudden restarts, than your old windows is either infected with a virus/worm or just messed up. install antivirus software & run a full system scan. You can use windows disk manager software to change the old C:\ to something like G:\. To run windows disk manager software, click the start button & open run. Type, diskmgmt.msc into the run window & click ok.
Again, if your new install of windows functions correctly & no virus has been found you can copy your old data to your new install of windows. (This is so you do not loose your data).

Asus p4ge-mx

The onboard battery that keeps the CMOS or BIOS settings is bad. It's a large flat battery that looks a lot like a watch battery just larger. Carefully remove it and get a replacement. Numbers for the replacement should be on top of the old battery.
