Simpson top loader overflows

Washer fills with water and overflows: The water pressure level switch is a pressure activated switch that is used to determine the correct water level in the tub. This part is normally located behind the control panel and will have a hose or air dome tube that connects it to the tub. On washers that use an electronic control, this switch may be located at the sump area below the tub. As the water fills in the tub it will compress the air in the tube and push against a diaphragm inside the switch. The switch will control the water inlet valve and turn the valve off at the correct water level. If the tube has a leak, not enough pressure may be created to activate the switch and the washer may overfill. If the switch is defective it may also cause the machine to overfill. To determine if the switch is bad, you should first eliminate the air dome hose as a problem. Look for signs of cracks or worn areas on the hose. Remove the hose and submerge in water. Seal one end and blow air into the other end and look for bubbles. Check for an obstruction in the hose as well. If the air dome hose appears to be ok, then the water level switch may be defective. You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good ( No wash- then THE DIAPHRAGM IS BAD AND SWITCH HAS TO BE REPLACED). The other item to check would be your water inlet valve. Check it for continuity with a multi meter it should show Ohms or a closed circuit. To test it when water is overflowing unplug the unit and see if it still overflows or continues to fill. If it stops when unplugged. Then it is not a water inlet problem but an electrical signal problem going to ur water inlet valve. Possibly from the panel or board.

Machine starts to fill then stops completely, I then have to change to drain setting

george, I understand that your washer starts to fill with water and then stops, forcing you to switch over to the drain cycle. It sounds to me like it is either the timer or the water valve itself. You can try resetting the appliance for 3 minutes by unplugging it or cutting the power at the circuit breaker. Regrettably, if this does not work, this is not a simple DIY job. Generally, qualified technicians often perform these complicated part replacements. Usually this type of information is not released to a consumer and very rare to find enough information to do it yourself. If I was in your position, I would personally suggest contacting a professional to accurately assist with the repair or installation of the part. -Best Regards-

Top load washer will not fill with water. Doesn't matter what setting. Other functions appear to be working but no water.

Check to make sure you have power to the pump...if not, trace it back to the relay that kicks the pump on & see if the relay is energized.

Hello annp, thank you for your post! Based on the symptoms you are describing, it does sounds like a siphoning issue. Generally speaking, the drain hose should come up above the washer tub and please make sure the drain hose is not too deep in to the house drain pipe. The drain hose should only be submerged 4-8 inches into the house drain pipe. If correct, otherwise the unit might be experiencing a communication with the control board and water fill valve. At this point, please reach out to an expert technician to ensure the appropriate replacement part is ordered and is installed correctly to prevent future issues. I hope this information helps to some degree - please do not hesitate to reconnect.

Hi,
The drain hose is too low and the water just runs right out...The highest point of the drain hose needs to be higher then the top of the washer before it goes back down into the drain. Also if the hose is sticking into water it can create a siphon which pulls the water out of the washer... make sure that you also have an air gap...

Will not agitate

The agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly. If the agitator is moving in only one direction, the likely cause is the clutch assembly. The clutch has dogs that depress and pop up with each turn. If those dogs are worn, they will not engage properly and the agitator will turn only in one direction. Another issue that might cause this disruption is the Motor coupler.

Washers with a direct drive motor have a motor coupler instead of a belt. The motor coupler consists of three plastic disks (or tri-stars) with interlocking tabs. Those tabs can wear and break which results in slippage. The slippage causes little or no power to be transferred to the transmission. A worn motor coupling can result in weak or no movement of the agitator and spin basket. Inspecting the motor couplers requires removing the motor, which is fairly easy to do.

Remove the cabinet. Locate the motor. The pump is mounted to one side of the motor. You do not have to remove the hoses from the pump unless they prevent you from moving the pump out of your way. If you must remove the hoses, label where they connect first. To disconnect the hoses, pinch the wire clamps with pliers (or loosen the screw) and slide the clamp farther up the hose. Slide the hose off of the pump port.

There are two clips that secure the pump housing to the motor. Use a screwdriver to pry up the clips and remove the cover. Next, slide off the pump to reveal the motor. Disconnect the wiring harness from the motor, do not pull on the wires themselves. The motor typically is secured with retaining clips and bolts. Remove the bolts and use a screwdriver to pry up the clips (if present). Remove the motor.

Mounted on the shaft of the back of the motor you will find the motor coupler. Separate the three disks and inspect them for damage. If you find cracks or excessive wear, replace the coupler.

**(((If the motor couple is in good condition, replace the agitator components and clutch assembly as well.)))

Dryer putting black smears on clothes

The white plastic pieces just inside the font of the drum are the front bearings there are aboutfour of these, you will need to take the front of the machine to put them in, your clothes are probably picking up black smeres from where the plastis bearings have worn.

Dryer marks clothes

it could be the adhesive that holds the felt bearings on the front housing. you see the back of the dryer drum has a bearing in its center, the front of the drum rotates on two or more felt pads or bearings in/on the front cover where your door is. you'll need to remove the front cover to replace these felt bearings. there should be two screws, maybe more holding the front cabinet to the rest of the dryer. the bearings will be mounted to the front cabinet right around the hole for the door.

Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.

My Frigidaire Affinity washer makes a loud buzzing sound when you push the start button and will not start, what can I do

Good Morning Anonymous, this is Z. I am happy to assist you! I understand that your door indicates it is open and your dryer will not operate. Let's attempt resetting your dryer by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. It is good to wait approximately ten minutes and turn on your dryer. Select a normal cycle and verify if your dryer will start. If your dryer will not operate then it possibly have a faulty door lock assembly or a communication problem with the control board. At this point, it would be advisable to contact an experienced appliance repair tech to assist further.
