I have onkyo TX-SR705 AVR and an older DX-C120 CD

Your don't explain which Logitech Harmony you own. I have seen on some harmonys that the auto programming for a specific device isn't sufficient to give useful enough functionality, the desired functions must be added manually. I'm assuming the device in question is listed for your remote. If it's not you are dead in the water. Your only option is to go back online with harmony, verify the device can be added and learn how to add functions manually. That's all I can help with the limited information you have supplied. Regards.

Intermitting sound problems on Onkyo SR-705

Does it only happen when its being stressed (played really loud)? Is it hot? If so, is it well ventilated and away from other heat sources?

Somewhere in here is the answer.

"The AV receiver turns off as soon as it’s turned
on
• The amp protection circuit has been activated.
Remove the power cord from the wall outlet immediately.
Disconnect all speaker cables and input sources,
and leave the AV receiver with its power cord disconnected
for 1 hour. After that, reconnect the power cord
and set the volume to maximum. If the AV receiver
stays on, set the volume to minimum, disconnect the
power cord, and reconnect your speakers and input
sources. If the AV receiver turns off when you set the
volume to maximum, disconnect the power cord, and
contact your Onkyo dealer."

That last sentence is misleading. I don't think they actually want you to play an active signal at MAXimum as a test. I think they mean with all sources attached and an idle one selected, like CD, crank the volume knob. If the amp is not in Protection mode you should always be able to detect some hiss up close.

For another thing, if it shuts down only with speakers attached the problem could be outbound at one or more of the speakers. I would isolate that piece somewhat before throwing my hands up and calling Onkyo. Make sure that the speaker cables are not shorting. Disconnect certain speakers and try it again until you figure out which one(s) are involved. Then it could be the speakers.

Onkyo volume control code on directv remote

It depends on the remote. If you have the long rectangular remote then it will only work TVs, not sound systems. The smaller curvy remote will do sound systems. But not every make. Programming is done by following the onscreen guide. If there are no codes for your Onkyo receiver, and there's no way to do a "search all codes" type scan, then you have to acceppt that it's a limit of the remote because it doesn't have the right codes in its memory.

How can I get my onkyo remote control (RC-693M) to control my Sony LCD tv?

Manual says: 1. While holding down the REMOTE MODE button for the mode in which you want to use the command, press the [ON] button. *** Hold both buttons down for 3-4 seconds *** 2. Press the button you want to learn the new command 3. Point the remote controllers at each other, about 2-6 inches apart, and then press and hold the button whose command you want to learn until the Remote indicator flashes. *** Hold them level with each other, 2-3 inches apart, and don't move them at ALL while you press the button on the old remote *** 4. To learn more commands, repeat steps 2 and 3. Press any REMOTE MODE button when you've finished. *** If the command was learned correctly, the remote indicator will flash *SLOWLY* twice - about a 1 second blink, and the red light will remain on. If the command was NOT learned correctly, it will blink twice *QUICKLY* - about .5 seconds, and the red light will go off. *** If the red light stays on, you're golden - keep going until you get to a button that flashes red quick and the light goes off. Some of the buttons I programmed took 6-7 tries in exactly the same position to learn.

Need Onkyo tx-nr616 remote code so ATT U-verse remote can control Onkyo

I used 5002 and it works for on/off only. This is better than nothing. You can try codes from other Onyko devices to see if you can get one that provides more functional control.
