My tv wont turn on

Hello,This is a common issue with this model. They used cheap components in the power supply board and these cheap capacitors fail and keep the unit from powering up. It is an easy repair to replace the bad capacitors with better quality parts and this should bring the unit back to life. Here is a repair guide for this model that shows what to look for and replace on the power supply board.http://www.ccl-la.com/blog/index.php/repairing-a-polaroid-tla-01911c-with-a-bad-power-supply/I hope this helps, BuddyMc

Picture size

This is the same problem I have (the picture being cut off on the edges). On your computer, you need to change to a native display. For instance, 1920x1080 usually cuts an inch off of all sides, but it's meant more for videos where a little cropping isn't a big deal; not general screen use. I believe the reason this happens is because with those other resolutions, 1920x1080 for instance, they are not your laptop's "native resolution", so in order to avoid scaling and stretching the image (which would degrade quality) they show its exact size, point by point, which is bigger than the number of pixels on your TV display. Some TVs, like mine, have a TV option called "100% scale" that forces the picture to exactly fit to the screen. But this causes stretching and distortion if the aspect ratio of your resolution and the TV's whole screen are different. Try something like 1366x768 or 1360x768 (some have both, some have only one of those). You should be able to find one or two resolutions like this that show the entire screen with full sharp clarity. It may even look better than 1920x1080 depending on your computer; find the best one that shows sharpness.

How do I change the input source without a remote

Hi there,

There should be a button on the narrow edge on the right side of the TV labelled INPUT. Press this button once to bring up the input menu on the TV screen, you should then be able to highlight the input from this list using the CHANNEL UP/DOWN buttons on the side of the TV. It may actually be the VOL +/- buttons to move up and down the list - I can't honestly remember so you may need to try a couple of times to get it right.

Finally I think you need to press the INPUT button again to select the highlighted input

It's best to switch the external input device on before doing this so there is a signal to the TV. It's easier to see when you have selected the correct input this way.

If you still can't select the correct input, please let me know and I will check on the exact method for switching this TV without the remote. I'm working from memory here!

Hope this helps.

Regards,
BElectric.

Comment or Question: I have a Polaroid TV, Model TLA01911C,manufactured in July, 2007. A surge went through it. Comes on with only a white screen. When tv screen did work,at times there was no sound.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

Auto scan does not detect any channels

Go into the menu on the remote control that came with your TV and set it to cable or antenna setting, depending on which one that you are using now.

Fault with the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time

My Polaroid Flat screen has no picture, but still

No picture can be caused by dead T-CON board, main board, 24vdc power supply not supplying power to the backlights inverter board, bad backlights inverter board. So inspect for bad caps fisrt and also try the instruction below.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board. if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having. If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on: Basic LCD monitor and TV troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r5093881-lcd_flat_panel_tv_troubleshooting_guide http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting http://www.fixya.com/support/r7406380-tv_training_manuals Failed TV and Monitors pictures: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm Learn about bad caps: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague Parts: www.shopjimmy.com Capacitors kit: http://lcdalternatives.auctivacommerce.com/Default.aspx he can make you a set of caps. Or www.digikey.com, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series. Please post back what you find.

Where can I buy a remote control for my polaroid tv

If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service center, or authorized dealer to your device brand. To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device you have. Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its user manual. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. If you see the site by "MOSAIC" view, will make surf easier. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/
