you should check the heating element. if the water is not hot enough, the timer will not advance. crack open the door mid-cycle. let the water stop flying around. then open it all the way up. if you don't get a big ball of steam, you have an indication that your heating element may not be working properly. this is not too hard to check the resistance with a multimeter and then replace, if necessary. good luck

the E3 error is a result of water temperature not getting to a nominal value within a particular time. This could be caused by several factors like heater faulty, wash pump not working well, wash arms not circulating water as required. Need model number to help you further pin point if possible. Sounds kinda funny but try unplugging they dishwasher for about 3 minutes where there's no power running to it. The plug should be underneath your sink. Then plug it back in and turn it on and see if it will cycle

Sounds like a control board issue? Turn it off I mean at The breaker or unplug it wait about an hour for the board to clear if it doesnt replace board.
