Coleman Mach III Air Conditioner - Page 8 Questions & Answers
I have a Mach3 unit with 1 capacitor 35uf 370 VAC
You need to check the Amp draw at start up of the compressor. Also if you have a meter that can check the compressor capacitor, it needs to be checked. If the capacitor is ok and the compressor starts at a higher Amp draw than the rating on the capacitor, you will need a start capacitor.
I recently set up my
Hi,
According to your problem, for power surge the compressor may burnt out. first check this and change the wire. if it doesn't solve your problem then you need to repair the compressor.
Have atwood furnace and coleman mach thermostat
It may be your thermostat, but try this first to see if time delay relay may be sticking. When it won't shut off, turn propane off, and go outside and unscrew the 2 screws that hold your cover on, and lower the cover down. Look straight ahead, attached to the housing of the fan up near top you'll see a square relay (time delay relay) with 4 male spade connectors, and wires attached to each. It's usually held on with 2 Philips screws. Give it a little rap with the handle of a screwdriver or similar a couple of times, and see if fan stops running. While your there as well, pull the wiring connector off the ignition board, and put back on a couple of times, to clean the connections. Now try it again, and let me know what happens.
Motor starts but wont turn
If it hasn't been running for a while, try going up on roof (AC in off position) and using a stick, or similar piece long enough to slide it through air slots in cover and spin fan blades a few times. It may only go a little at a time but keep going until you make 2 or 3 rotations. Then remove it and have someone try fan mode only. If it runs, let it run for a few minutes and , from then on it should be o.k. If you can't get at it to spin it enough with stick, remove screws on top of cover and remove cover and spin by hand (carefully and power off to AC), then try to start it. If motor hums but still will not start by itself, have capacitor replaced. Very dangerous to handle so either have someone who's familiar with capacitors do it, or a technician.
Sounds like unit is getting power but fan doesnt
Confirm with a volt meter that you are getting the required voltage from the condenser fan motor contactor, load side of the contactor, which should be the same contactor as for the compressor. Is the comprssor coming on. If the compresor is coming on and the fan motor is'nt, than the fan motor or the run capcitor for the fan motor has failed.
My coleman Mach Rv air
There should be an overload protection device in series with the low voltage wiring(t-stat wiring) Is it resting on the heat strip or too close to it? It is a saftey device to shut off the heat strips if the fan quits or a fire in the heat strip section. check that or by pass it, if it stays running then ur thermal protector is bad, couple bucks at the parts house.
Replacing a Coleman with a Duotherm, can the same
Hi, yes you can use the same thermostat if you are replacing the unit that has the same sequence of operation. What I mean is, if the old unit is a gas fired furnace and outdoor condenser split system for the a/c you can use the same controls, or if its a package unit. Now, if you are installing a heat-pump unit in place of a gas fired central unit, you will need to pull more stat wire and buy a heat-pump thermostat to make it run.

I AM LOOKING FOR PARTS FOR A COLMAN A/C JRL 0100
Where do you live. A zip code is best. As long as you know the parts you need and your not going to ask how to repair your unit, parts are easy to come by. Give me your zip and I'll give you a dealer.
Where do you recharge the AC with r22?
Most rooftop RV units do not have service ports installed. You would have to get line tap valves to install in the system. The next problem would be getting some R22. Unless you have and EPA CFC certification you cannot buy R22.
