How do I open a w17e monitor

As with all monitors which are flat screen types, you need a couple of tools for the job. First a Phillips head screw driver to remove the screws from the mounting pillar and any case screws. Second you need something like a small putty knife (plastic if you can find one (cheapies at Lowes or Home Depot for example). The case is opened by sliding the putty knife between the front and rear case halves angling from the rear to the front to gently rock the case latches loose on the inside where you can not see them, working your way along the case sides, either clockwise or counterclockwise around the screen perimeter.. just make your way around, one latch at a time.. Also, do not pull the halves apart as you make you way or you risk either rounding the latches off or breaking them all-together while disconnecting them. Be careful around the bottom front since this is where the control keys are normally located for the monitor (on-off-menu-etc.). The controls should come off with the front half, and the cables are usually pretty tiny and fragile - FYI. Once you get inside, you will see the power supply mounted to the back of the screen assembly. At this point it you should be back in normal looking territory once again to begin whatever repair you are after now. To put back together, you simply "snap" the two halves back together (you will hear the obvious "clicks" which indicate the latches are snapped into place once again (going together is much easier than taking apart, so be sure all is working before putting back together.. just sayin'). We professionals use a glorified putty knife affectionately known as a "MAC-cracker", which was sent out to service people working on the old Apple systems which were snapped together like this a long time ago.

How to restore default setting to display i am using Hp w17e

On your main screen do a right mouse click and in the drop down menu, select properties or screen resolution. That should bring up your screen settings, normally they show which setting is the recommended setting.

I have a attention input

Hello,
This is most likely because your computer is trying to display a screen resolution higher then tht monitor can support. Turn your PC on, and press F8 until you see a black and white menu. Select safe mode. Run safe mode and when windows loads, goto your control panel. Select Display and navigate to the resolution / settings tab. The screen resolution should be set to 1440 x 900 for this monitor to display video correctly.
If you need more detailed information on where to find the display resolution settings in windows I will need the name of the OS you are running... XP, Vista, Win 7 etc..
Regards, Chris

There is no sound coming

Yes, you will need a seperate wire that goes from the input in the monitor to the sound adapter on your computer. The cable plugs should look something like this:

How do I navigate in

There should be a couple of other buttons on the monitor possibly with a picture of an arrow visibly close to them. These buttons should provide navigation while in the menu. They made provide a different function while outside of the menu. For example a brightness button might increase the brightness of the screen but when in the main menu it might move up in the menu. The button has more then one function.
