Monitor went south. Replaced with
NO monitor stated, no model # of it either, 36 years of monitors there are... what is yours?
NO OS stated, is this XP the virus magnet?
try F8 safe mode yet, see if screen looks bad now,
if it looks ok then its a software problem.
disorientation?
this word has no meaning at all, only your photos of it are missing
only. we cant guess screens ever. (we are bind here in text)
try another monitor first. easy no? if its ok, then the PC is okl
if not the monitor failing is bad. all in 1min test.
or , see below...
there are no DLL files for monitors, only the video card has
sys and inf files. called a Driver, monitors have no Driver binaries.
the video card generates video only.
only configuration maters.
sounds like you had CRT monitor
then plugged in a LCD year 2000 or newer, in the VGA jack
right? if yes , all LCD can do CRT resolutions, with no issues
but one, the sweet spot, called,"intrinsic resolution": stated clearly in the new monitors manual, under spec.
that means,, V/H X reso, has the most clear image.
the monitor does have a text file telling XP the upper limits of the resolution allowed.
or if the unstated monitors is super old it has very complex text file for all the old restrictive limits on it."study old multisync monitors"?
why not do F8 first.? 800x600 works on all monitors. so...
if that works you know the HW is ok. just XP messed up, as all are. XP is a virus magnet and more... lots more bad.
you do know XP is dead now? at HP and MS!
MS shut down all support but SP3 service pack (got that? pack)
do so
The PnP servers at MS are now down. forever, just like
w95 to w2k and now XP and VISTA are dead.
PnP = Plug and Play (pray) that magic that finds your monitors
name and model and the goes online and finds the rules (or a driver) from MS, (never HP)
plug and play, if say you PC wonts to run 1920x1080 (like mine)
but i plug in a 2000 year monitor and it can only do 1024x768
then the monitor goes nuts, all do , if XP or VISTA or older.
if lucky , or not. (if you local win cache has this there, then it works)
The PNP would If working ( tells the OS to not use the new resolution but to use 1024, in the stead.
what does that mean , answer and simple
XP cant go out to MS and get the unstated monitor, limit files.
the file that tells windows what resolution to uses.
or right click the desktop, and change resolution to 800x600.
so do F8 now
power on, hammer F8
monitor happy now.
and please tell the helper
what Monitor,
and what OS , so answers can be 10x shorter... please.
