Hello Valery !

This is going to happen when you are not using the correct printing drivers for your Mac.
For Mac OS X 10.5.8 you will need to download and reinstall the software for the printer.
You can dowload the installation file from:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp610#DriversAndSoftware

Just select your Operating system with MAC OS X, from the Software section click on the file named "eppexosx321ea8-2.dmg", this will take you to the download page, scroll down, click on download and run it on your computer.

Using the correct drivers for your system should fix your issue.
If you have more questions let me know

FAULT 6A00

Hi,

6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
The print head carriage would have been stuck and try manually
moving the carriage a few times and the problem would be resolved.
Try blowing some compressed air around hoping to clear any foriegn objects.
Notice whether some piece of torn paper lodged inside.

Hope it helps.

Canon MP610 out of black ink

Cannon Pixma MP610 - when the black ink is empty and you receive the replace ink message, then hold down the "cancel" button for 5 seconds or so and it the printer automatically bypasses the problem. It does work but Ive had mixed success in terms of the print quality when doing this.

The pictures have lines in them. I checked ink

Lines are caused by a dirty, or clogged printer cartridge. Low quality ink is the most common factor in this issue. For a quick fix, pull out your cartridges and use a damp cloth to clean off the excess ink/dirt. If the problem persists, try replacing the entire cartridge.

hi

Select the ink cartridge specific to your printer. Canon inks are versatile, so your selection may be as simple as choosing between black, color or a multi-pack with black and color cartridges.
  • Step 2 Turn on your Canon printer. The switch is generally located on the top right hand side of the printer. Open the printer's lid.
  • Step 3 Wait a moment. The cartridge carrier will automatically disengage.
  • Step 4 Put your hand behind the existing ink cartridge and pull the cartridge towards you until it pops out. Dispose of or recycle the used cartridge.
  • Step 5 Carefully pull the tape off the new cartridge.
  • Step 6 Position the new cartridge into the cartridge carrier. Make sure it is facing the correct position.
  • Step 7 Press the cartridge carrier gently until it clicks into place. Some cartridges have indicators to demonstrate that they are properly positioned.
  • Step 8 Close the printer's lid. Print a test page to ensure everything is working properly.

    Color pages print green.

    Hi
This is a problem which is seen with any printer if the color cartridge is not installed correctly or has a bad print head or is over and needs a refill. The printer mixes color for gray scale. So both of the things you are trying to do involve the color cartridge. First make sure the clear tape is off the cartridge heads and that it is installed correctly. If it still won’t print return the cartridge.

How do i clean a purge unit on mp610 canon? where

the purge unit is located where the print head rest itself.. normally it's under the right side of the printer.
You will need to remove the cover in order to clean the purge unit, you have to be very careful as the purge unit might have small spring and if it's not fitted correctly, it will damage the purge unit.
Easiest way to clean it is switch on the printer, and open the front or top cover...let the print head move to replacement position then pull the power out and clean the purge unit. It's a messy thing as it will be fill with ink. U can clean it using tissue and moist cloth... apart from that, don't think you can clean much of it unless you are able to open the whole printer up then you will have a better view and space to clean it.

That sounds like the ink is coming off the waste ink absorbers. Try blotting the excess ink off the bottom of the printer with paper towels. The ink absorbers are small pads at the bottom of the paper feed path. With work, you can pull them pads and rinse them clean and then reinstall them when dry. Unfortunately, this can take almost disassembling the printer. Simply absorbing some of the excess is a temporary step.

    I hope this helps.

(there is a counter that indicates when (based on average use) the waste ink absorber is full. The printer will stop working when that number is reached. Unfortunately, I haven't seen a reset for this model that actually works.)

The only fix for that is to replace the carriage assembly, the part is only about $30.00 but it should be a shop repair. If the gold pin is just bent, you might try and straighten it, carefully though, they break easy.

    L am getting an error

You have probably whats called a carriage jam. Its a beam kind of thing on which the carriage rides on. If there is some obstruction( usually, pieces of paper, dried ink etc.) then it has to be cleared. Turn off the printer and open the cover at the top. When you see the carriage then power up the printer and push it in the direction it is trying to move. Once thats done take a clean cloth and wipe the carriage beam. Turn off the printer and turn it back on and see if you are able to print.

    Sai.
