How to remove stand

Look at the back of the screen. There are four screws near the bottom that must be totally removed. A magnetic tip screwdriver would help. Once they're removed, the screen will just slide straight up. A problem could occur if they were screwed on too tight in the beginning. If that were the case, good luck to you. You may need to use easy outs or other such tools.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom (look for discoloration of the circuit board around the base of the capacitor) need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the unit will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and/or inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are SURE it's only doing supply output ripple filtering,
and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mm51C_RDIZE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNHHrgX_6cs&feature=related
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l0AUj8QUkg&NR=1&feature=fvwp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7b_nTaZYcU&feature=related

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors, amplifiers, computer power supplies and motherboards, and other electronic equipment.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
A great parts source is Digi-Key, and you can order the parts online at www.digikey.com
They typically cost under a dollar a piece plus a flat shipping rate.
The parts usually arrive one business day later.
If you watch the third video, you will see that even someone with no soldering experience can perform these repairs as demonstrated by the woman in the video.

Picture is blank. Audio works, changes channels

2 possible causes: either the backlighting or the panel controller (the T-Con) have failed. To find out which get a powerful flashlight and point it at the screen with the room darkened: if you can see an image then it's the backlighting, if not then it's the T-Con.
The respective boards will have to be replaced.

The blue lite comes on but get no picture

Hello,

If you are getting the following kind of breakdown:
The TV do not starts (the LED flashes) and / or slow start then you can refer the following solutions

Replace capacitor C2937 / a 10µF 100µF
Add a 63v capacitor of 1uF / 16V / position 2936.
Change resistance R3955 / 220K with a 4.7 K
These are found in the power section of the television
I hope this may solve your problem but for you must have some technical knowledge about it.

An LCD TV set need to used a picture in native resolution for give you a good picture. In other word you need to receive an HD signal to have a nice picture. If you tune on a station that give you a none HD signal you will see a dull picture like you said. The only way to dont see this effect in standard d?finition is to use or buy a plasma tv set. Or check only HDTV.

I have sound, but no picture

Hello,

Connect your TV to a DVD player. If there is still no picture, it means the display inverter of your Tv is defective.

The display inverter is what makes the TV brings picture. Since the TV is no longer bringng any picture, the display inverter is the first thing that needs to be checked as it is most likely the cause of the problem.

Please give me feedback if you need any assistance in locating or identifying the display inverter.

Your sincerely.

When initially starting TV the picture has very

Sounds like the power inverter is on its way out, or the backlights... Either or its not a completly easy fix but with some background in electronics is do-able without having to send the unit out.

However if this unit is within warranty I always strongly encourage to keep the unit within warranty and send it out the the manufacture for repair through them as it is the only guranteed no loss solution.

Best course of action would be to wait it out until either or goes, when it finally does you have to determine weather or not its the actual inverter or the backlight...

When you pull the unit apart and take out the core from its plastic casing, you will find a large chip-board with thick wires running to the top and bottom of the unit this is your power inverter. If you follow the two white wires to the top of the unit and the bottom of the unit youll see what resembles two small florescent lights. These are your back-lights. If you hook those up to either the power of a usb cord (red and black when stripped) or a toss the wires into the positive and negative of a TV remote with fresh batteries you will be able to determine if the back lights are good.

If they are then its your power inverter by process of elimination. You can pull the part no. off the back of the unit and type it in here...

www.sparepartswarehouse.com

You will be able to find the replacement unit and hopfully all will bode well...

If all else fails you can toss it on ebay for AS-IS to someone who has a bit more experience tearing these things apart

My lg 37 inch lcd

Plasma and LCD TV sets are prone to having capacitors in the power supply section fail. This is the most likely cause for the probem you describe. When capacitors fail your will commonly see one or more of the following symptoms.
  • No video, Power light is on or blinking.
  • TV is making a clicking noise.
  • TV takes a while to come on
  • Screen is very dim or flickers.

Again, You can get a power supply repair kit with the parts, detailed instructions, and support from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com . Or just click here to see more details on their kit.

Here are pictures of capacitors...Notice that the ones below look bloated. They have failed and will need to be repalced.
