I have the same problem. I have the Sony Bravia KDL-40S4100. I can't get it off channel 2. It won't work with the remote, and it won't work on buttons on the top of the console either. The power button on the remote is still able to turn the TV on and off, but aside from that, everything else is frozen.

It will be either BM board (Video Processor board) or Tcon Board (top side of panel). I have similar problem...my TV turns on, lamps turns on (you can see them from back side panel holes) but just a dark blue picture appears with no image (like picture when external input is selected without signal), no OSD appears....some times I can heard audio (using Antena).
I'm thinking getting the BM board.

What does it do if you unhook the flat cables going from the tcon to the panel, does the blinking go away and do you have sound then?

I would you to try this open the back disconnect the power cable to the video card  of the set  then put it back  then on it .

Remember when doing this make sure there's no power coming in from the wall socket  otherwise u will be short circuited

You probably have a bad main digital video board. I would not suggest a person with prior electronics experience to perform this repair as the set holds extremely high voltages for hours after being turned off.

A service manual would come in handy when you are working on something like this. You may want to try searching for one before starting this repair. If you cant find it then let me know and I will guide you with the repair.

You have a couple of problems if you are sure there are 2 different blink codes. 13 blinks indicates a backlight balancer error which would explain your no light condition. 14 blinks would be a TCON board error which is the driver board for the LCD screen. Either error would keep the screen black.

The cost of the repair would be quite close to a purchase of a new same size TV. It is safe to use unless you start to hear crackling noises which indicates short circuitingGood Luck Ed Pinero

Thats usually caused by bad flex tab bonds on the LCD panel itself. If you search for flex tab issues vidoes it will show how the pisture can get slow motion in areass as well as double images in that area.

Sounds like a back light failure. To verify this, turn on the set, dim the lights in room. Shine a bright flash light on the screen, if you see a faint picture on the screen, you have a back light failure. You either have a blown back lamp, 24v circuit fault, or a failed inverter board.

Question does not make sense, are you able to provide more information?

If remote has the aspect button it will do this depending on signals--some boxes preset the aspect for the signal they are outing to your TV---4x3 for example may not be able to be switched to full or 16x9.

Sounds like a bad LCD panel tab. Sony and Samsungs are notorious for that. Just search Youtube for "bad LCD tabs", and you will see videos of the actual problem and symptoms.
