It seems that the internal filter (on front of the lamp) shifted or maybe dislodged from the correct position.

5 Blinks on this unit is not your lamp. Your lamp driver aka ballast is the problem. Very small chance that the G board is defective but I doubt it.

I would not feed it another lamp, if going to do anything replace both.

Was the sets Lamp replaced recently and what if any lights on front of set blink when it goes off (error code)?

Remove and examine lamp to see if shattered--lamp has a 2,000 hour lifespan and may look good--if it fails the lamp light on sets front should light.
