Toshiba's and JVC's are the harder ones to do

I use a Phillips myself as it is not only cheaper but has much more going for it than many of the higher end units. i throw anything at it and it just plays

The older the unit that harder it is to do the region free thing with.
I let my EX have the panasonic (big grin)

If you cant find a fix then look at the codes available for cheaper brands and how easy it is to do it before you purchase one.

I've tried one like this on mine which had the same problem and it workded.

press which region (Eg 0 for multi)
press pause
and whola!!!

All American VHS recordings will be in NTSC system. If your player is compactable with NTSC system, you can play the VHS in your system. If it has no NTSC syste, the tape will play, but colour problems and vertical rolling will occur. OK.

Divx compatibility with this player is limited as follows; available resolution size of Divx is under
720x576 pixel - file name Divx subtitle is avail by 56 characters - if number of the screen is over 30/sec the unit may not operate norm - playable Divx file avi,mpg. .mpeg - playable codec format

file is not interleaved, either video or audio is outputted.- if the fie is rec GMC the unit supports only

try that:

1. Power on (with no disc inserted)
2. Press PAUSE
3. Press 3, 1, 4, 1, 5, 9
4. Enter the desired RC
5. Press PAUSE
6. Turn the player off and wait a few seconds

1. VCD playback
2. Press PAUSE, 1, 4, 7, 2
3. Press UP 6 times, '07 00' should appear on the display
4. Press Program 6, Program 5 ('07 FE' should be displayed)
5. Press ENTER
6. Press RETURN
7. Power off and on again

I had a problem like that before .I thought it was the dvd disc, but it was the laser head. I changed the laser head and all is good now.But it is not portable.

It's likely a belt that drives the tray has snapped or come off! If you take the top off you might well see it!

Please check the front open/close button is pushing inside perfectly or not. May be there is gap between the buttons.
