I have a PLMV178HC Frigidaire

I can't find if there's a difference between model PLMV178HC and PLMV178HCA. Every search for PLMV178HC redirects me to PLMV178HCA. So I'm giving you information based on model PLMV178HCA. If you end up with a wrong part, the supplier has a very liberal simple return policy. It is repaired by replacing the control panel frame assembly, which comes with a new membrane keypad already attached. For model PLMV178HCA, that is part number 5304470533 and you can get it from Sears online for $89.95 (subject to change). At my Web site, I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. (Also, the service manual is here.) If you have any trouble getting the grille off once the screws are removed, slide the hood vent grille to the left about 1/4", then then pull it forward. On some models there are L-shaped clips that fit into a slot to hold bottom of the vent. Be very careful when disconnecting the cables & wires. Some connectors have a locking tab (see photo) Next remove the keypad strip (see photo) Then simply move your circuit board into the new frame. Be careful, because your display tube is made of glass, and if it breaks, the board must be replaced as well. Let me know by e-mail if I can help further. Regards, William E. Frigidaire gallery microwave door sags

Repairing the loose, detached hinge is simple. First buy a pop rivet tool and 1/8'' or 3mm rivets for about $16 at lowes Second remove the door. There is a little plastic pop tab on the inside top corner of the door by the hinge that keeps the door from lifting off of the hinge pins. Use a 1 inch putty knife or maybe a butter knife and pry from the bottom crack. Once tab is off the entire door can be lifted off. Third, line up the little holes in the bracket with the little holes in the microwave face. Insert a pop rivet in the hole and squeeze the tool till it pops off. I put one 3mm rivet on the top hinge and one on the bottom. No drilling needed on my Fridgidaire PLMV169DCd microwave. I guess u could drill a 1/8'' hole thru the microwave face and the hinge bracket if there isn't one on your model.

Glmv169gsb stopped working

You blew the fuse on the control board. Unplug it, remove the cover to expose the guts, and you should see a fuse. Replace it and try again. If it blows again, then you will likely find it cheaper to get a new microwave than have the control board replaced.

Microwave door sags

I had the same problem. An easy fix is to remove the door by opening the door, take a screwdriver and pop the plastic retainer piece from just below top hinge on the door. Now lift the door gently and it will come off in your hands. Set aside and be careful not to let the loss bracket that passes into the microwave body fall back into the cabinet. I would suggest you use a small vice grip locked onto that bracket to keep from lossing it inside. You will see two holes, one near the top and bottom through the cabinet into the hinge. line these holes up with the hinge holes behind them and use a pop rivet gun and 3/16" rivets to lock into place. Then replace the door and retainer piece. If you only have 1/8" rivets you can hold the bracket lined up with the original holes and drill 1/8" holes of your own a little distance away from the original holes and then pop rivet through these holes.

You need a microwave fuse. Also the reason for it blowing fuses may be that it's time to replace the capacitor inside. It may be time for a new magnetron too. If you have the top open look to wires that burned in two and may be touching the frame If that is so you may not need any parts at all. Also check the thermal cutoffs (button looking safety equipment)

Frigidaire microwave door fallen off

I had the same problem. I removed the door and used a rivet tool. I checked to make sure the door cleared the rivet head, which was nearly flat, so there would not be any microwave leakage.

No Power. Receptacle good. 120VAC at receptacle.

Normally, if it was running and the fuse blows, it is then an electrical/electronic fault. If you simply woke up to the fuse being blown, then very possible it is only the fuse from a cocoaroach or the like.having gone onto a live part of the circuit. Pull the plug out and remove outer cover. Locate the fuse on the board where the power wire comes in and replace for the same value (normally 12 amps).Switch on and try with water in the microwave. Please stand clear when testing as the power is huge in the system. If it blows again, really, get a technician that knows what to look for when trouble shooting. 50% of the time it is the capacitor and HVdiode. Other 50%of the time it is the magnatron. Careful testing can ensure the right part first time. Microwave is one of the most dangerous appliances next to a tv set that i have found.

Microwave stopped heating. Everything else works.

If it's not that old, it might be under warranty. There is a host of conditions that can cause an oven not to heat, from a simple corroded terminal to the magnetron.
