Ice Maker Making Noise

sounds like your icemaker is jammed.

first ofall just feel around the icemaker and see if you can find a peice of ice jamming it that you can remove. if that doesnt work heat it up with a blow dryer until any ice that is there will melt away and it will free up..

there is one other possibility: the stripper could be jammed against the side of the icemaker in which case you'll have to remove the icemaker from the refrig and unjam it..

hope that helps and good luck

Frisdge/freezer and ice smell

I had a side by side refrigerator with an Ice maker from Sears. The ice it makes smell fishy so bad that I could not use to drink with anything else but throw away to the plants. So I unscrewed the ice maker . It is not that bad, but quite simple to take it out. I noticed rusted pieces of metal generating strong fishy smell. I could not get rid of rust with soap, detergent, oil so I wrap it in plastic bag then screw it back into the refrigerator. Screwing back the ice maker. Voila. The smell is going away. The ice is good. Pina Colada and Daiquiri here we go .

I'm having the same problem as Mark did on Aug

Dear friend! You would have mentioned exact problem of your fridge. But as you mentioned, I search for the complaint of Mr.Mark and understand the problem. Please follow my advise step by step.

Once you get hum noise or any strange nise in compressor, don't switch on until you get proper advise or repairman.
1.Power on.
2. Check compressor is working by amps meter clamping in phase or neutral wire.
3. Compressor starts but off with clicking sound. It means compressor taking high amps and overloard protector cuts off. It may happens due to defective relay also. Replace relay and check. If still compressor high amps, you have to replace compressor.
Normally 5 to 7 years warranty for the compressor. If no response over phone with your supplier, bring invoice to supplier personally and demand for replacement. It's your rights. Hope, write more with full details, if you require any more suggestion.

Fridge and freezer stop working and a noise of the

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

I suspect by your description the fridge either has a faulty overload protector or the compressor itself is seized. Hence when the overload reset's it try's to start, however the overload then trips and stops while the compressor never starts, thus you hear it "clicking" and not cooling.

I assume the fan which is constantly running/full time is the freezer fan/evaporator fan since the condensor fan is likely cutting in & out since it only runs when the compressor comes on.

If you feel like you can trouble shoot further I`ve provided the following info to assist you or you may decide to call a professional appliance technician as I would suggest.

I don`t know the age of your fridge, but I should mention...

** Most of the manufacturers of fridges have 5 to 10 years sealed system warranty which would include the compressor but not the electrical starting devices i.e., the overload & relay. Check your owners manual, it is the ultimate authority on warranty no matter what anyone else tells you according to.**

If you have a multi- meter you can check the compressor to see if the windings are ok.

**First, Unplug the fridge**

Remove the panel at the back down at the bottom. This should gain you access to the compressor.

On the side of the compressor will be the start relay/overload assembly such as this image...it may be enclosed in a black plastic cover as well.

2234770.jpg

Pull off the relay & overload and you'll see 3 pins in the form of a triangle...

ffd3e9e.jpg
With a meter measure between any 2 pins at one time, going between each pin with one remaining on a "common" pin.

You'll want 3 measurement's, similar to this example- 6ohms, 3ohms, and 9ohms.

On some meters you may simply get a reading of "0" ohms, as long as the needle moves off of "infinity" which would indicate an "open" winding=not good !

If following that, the readings are good, purchase a hard start kit. Part # HS410 also known as a 3in1 starter kit.

i.e.

775ec2d.jpg

The above package contains info and hardware on how to connect it.

NOTE : the HS410 ( 3 in 1 ) should be considered just a temporary "fix" as opposed to an actual "repair" in should not be relied on for long term reliability or safety, but rather thefactory replacemnet, double check with your model number.

Hope that help`s move you forward if nothing else. If so please take a second and rate the reply and a testimony to your inquiry you received here at FixYa.

Thank you and good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Freezer is working hard and

You can test the fan by seeing if there is voltage getting to it when it's supposed to be running. With the compressor running the fan should run. If there is no voltage getting to the fan the electronic control could be bad. The handle on the bottom freezer drawer is loose

Hi,

Sometimes the studs that the handle mounts to become loose themselves. If you remove the handle entirely and look at the studs, they will have either a phillips head or they will be hex-headed so you can tighten them. Carefully snug the studs down (do not over-tighten) and re-install the handle. This should solve your problem.

Let me know if you need more help
good luck

My fridge got short circuit due to power

So do you think maybe their was a power surge associated with this? A voltage spike might nave taken out the PC board. When the repair is made you may want to invest in a surge suppressor for your ice box Here is a wiring diagram. I only see a fuse associated with the ice maker. Use this Maytag Link to get a service manual for your ice box. Good luck to you. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/dan_73bbd84fe1d95b61

Fan cool fridge working 3years bought new 2days ago starts blowin

Good day,
I don't understand your caption..........
Fan cool fridge working 3years bought new 2days ago... However, it sounds as if the compressor is trying to start and cannot.
If the machine is under 5 years of age, the compressor is under factory warranty.
There is a relay, capacitor, and overload which are connected to the side of the compressor after removing the back bottom rear cover.
These items could be removed and taken to an appliance parts house, where they would be glad to test them for you. Replace failed parts.

However, if it is under 5 years of age, I would recommend you call for factory warranty service. They may have to charge you for one of these parts, but since it could be a failed compressor, and not the starting components it is better to let them service it and maintain the balance of your compressor warranty.
