hi
First of all if you can remove the ram memory DO IT SO ifyou cant try without removing FIRST.
-remove battery pack(if you can remove memory ram as well) and wait 10 mins

-unplug the power AND press and hold the power button for 45 seconds
-REPLUG THE POWER CABLE BUT DON'T PUT THE BATTERY PACK YET
NOW OPEN THE LID WIDER YOU CAN PRESS POWER BUTTON YOU WILL SEE YOUR SYSTEM WILLSTART ONCE YOUR SYSTEM BE READY SHUT IT DOWN PUT THE BATTERY PACK BACK AND CONTINUE TO USE YOUR LAPTOP
MY NC9400 CANT TURN ON, WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON,
1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. Make sure the DC jack is not loose or broken. A loose DC jack will need to be re-soldered. A broken one will need to be replaced.
4. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
5. The power button could be bad.
6. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced
Which components on hp nc6400
Main component to cause such an issue in the DC socket where you plug the power adapter. This is one of the weakest points in the laptop & usually the first suspect when it comes to input power failure. The socket might either be loose (in which case it will need to be re-soldered), or broken (in which case it will need to be replaced). In either case, you need to disassemble the laptop, pull the motherboard out, & inspect & fix the problem.
The laptop screen has turned
Make sure the LCD is not cracked. Sometimes these cracks may not be visible to the bare eye. have you stepped on it, put something on it or anything similar?
Just in case it is your LCD, see if your warranty covers it, if not you are better off buying a new laptop. One of my friends paid $500 on an Acer, he stepped on it, warranty wouldn't cover it and he was asked to pay $400 to have it fixed.
If this is a software problem, I can't think of anything else but the Screen properties, like Colors, or resolution.I can only think this is a hardware problem.
I have a HP NC6400
It is still in warrenty so you can use your warrenty .
For that take it your laptop at nearest hp service center they will replace the battery.
It is better to replace battery because there is not any method for repair battery and your laptop is still in warrenty.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.
