When you say you cannot burn DVD's, do you mean you cannot burn DVD movies or do you mean you cannot burn data files to a DVD?

Burning DVD movies requires specific software to transcode the video and create a directory structure that DVD's players expect.

Hi, maybe your power adapter, its cable or plug is faulty, maybe some of your friends has the same type of power adapter to test it with your computer. If you have a DC Voltmeter to could check output voltage from your power adapter.

There is 2 possible problems, 1) the connector on the computer side (motherboard) is damaged and 2) the power cord from the power supply is damaged.

Ok, it seems that this is a pretty common issue. I found a youtube video showing how to get around this. I watched some of it, the guys seems pretty competent. however, you might not be comfortable taking this thing apart or doing what he is doing. However, it is a relatively simple thing to fix for a competent repair person and I looked up new power assembly and they run around $25 on ebay. However, if you just need this thing to work for a while and you intend to replace it in the near future and just need to get by for a short while, this should work. No you need switch,if you use a tiny screw driver you can turn it on with that if its just the plastic peice thats broke.use the screw driver to slide the mechanisam
