The pump is most likely bad. If the dishwasher has some years on it, repairing might not be economical. Get some estimates, that will help with the decision to repair or replace.
Whirlpool dishwasher drainage problem..
This sounds like a bad timer. The timer is what tells the pump to drain at specified times. If it gets a bad contact, that timed cycle won't happen.
PS: Do you know for sure that the drain is occurring in mid-cycle? If not, you may just have an obstruction in the drain and/or anti-siphon valve (where the hose connects under the dishwasher.
Mounting my dishwasher to granite counter tops.
Ask a local granite fabrication shop to get you some dishwasher mounting clips. They look like a perforated disc of metal with a small nut brazed to one side. They come with a short screw that attaches through your dishwasher mounting tabs. Place your dishwasher where you want it relative to the cabinets and pick a hole in the mounting tabs that won't leave the clip protruding and attach the clip to the chosen hole. Use masking tape on the top of your dishwasher door, wipe the bottom of the granite and the top of the clip with acetone, then use a gel-type two part epoxy from your local hardware store to attach the clip to the granite. Use enough to make the epoxy push through the perforations in the clip as this is how the epoxy grips the clip. Push the clip to the bottom of the granite and close the dishwasher door, using a wood shim or two between the top of the door and the mounting tab/clip to push the clip tight to the granite. Pull the shims out once the epoxy has cured (check the instructions on the epoxy).
