not a motor as it is spinning
at the bottom there is a solenoid actuated lever that engages the drive for the agitator
that lever can break or the solenoid can burn out
Code A09 means there is a problem with the water supply. Ensure your water is turned on completely, unplug the machine for 1 minute and then plug it back in. If the code persists, you should turn off the water and remove the supply lines. There is usually a filter in one end of each hose or at the water valve hookup. Ensure that the filter is clean and replace it. If you have done this and you know that you have good water flow through the supply hoses, I would suspect the water valve solenoid(s) as being defective.
Its the wash or rinse cycle that is tieing the clothes in knots not the spin cycle. Try putting less shirts in. It happens because of the agitation during the wash. Or pin the sleeves together.
I know this may sound like a stupid question but "is the lid closed completely "? if so open the lid and take a plastic knife and depress the safety switch on the top of the machine and see if it works. It will be located on the top of the machine usually it is an oval shaped hole under where the lid closes down on it. If that works then you can open the top of the machine and adjust the safety switch.
The inlet screen could be plugged where hoses connect, or water is not turned on. Humming is the solenoid not working or trying to work. make sure water is getting too the machine and try repeated off and on cycles with dial. replace solenoid if needed.
Jeffrey is right - washing water temperature is very important. Just as important is the amount of detergent used and whether or not softener is used. The self-cleaning mode does not address the problem because it does not clean the "splash area" just above the normal waterline. Suds and soiled waters splash up and don't get rinsed out. This is invariably the area of worst buildup. To clean the splash area add 1 cap of smelly washer cleaner to a full load of laundry. The added bulk of the laundry will raise the water level to include the splash area. For more extreme problems intermittently pause to soak.
Replacing the dogs in most auger/agitators is kind of tricky, do to the fact that they heat seal most of the components together. Personally I have both failed and suceeded attemping this. As well it is quite hard to explain how to do without actually being there, it is fairly straight forward, Basically the dogs are inside the agitator so that when the agitation begins the back and forth action, it doesn't simply spin the agitator around and around, free spinning, or not at all, so the dogs catche and releases the splines inside the body of the agitator so your clothes are "agitated" to the point of getting clean. With that said, the most efficient way of dealing with this problem is by getting the agitator dog assembly, I looked up your model number and I believe that the part number you're seeking is 285811 agitator cam kit. Please contact if you have any questions.
This is a common problem with top load washine machines it is usualy the motor drive coupler. Here is a link to the part and a video on how to replace it. I would suggest watchine the Video before you order the part then you can check if this is the problemhttp://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Motor-Coupling/285753A/1195967
Curdy, it almost sounds like your lid switch is loose or fractured and the lid actuator is not making the switch. Check this out first and post back...Catriver.
the clutch isn't falling until you manually open the lid then you hear a clunk and then the tub spins you have a bad timer.if it had anything to do with the ****** it wouldn't spin no matter what the timer part number is 8546681 and it's 74 dollars on the sears site, also you can go to this site http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Circuit-Board-or-Timer/8546681/1060743 and they will take back any part up to 1 years time, you can't beat that and it's 76 dollars here.hope this helps and good luck.let me know how you make out,
Sorry, this FixYa Washer Forum cannot supply service centre numbers, engineers, spares or spares sources, software, installation instructions or prices; it is just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home, from all over the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web ;-0)
You will either have to search in your local telephone directories OR stay on line and search for '(make) washer service' for instance or '(make) washer spares' and hope that you can find someone/somewhere reasonably local.
Sorry again ;-0(
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!
