LG DH30 GoldStar Dehumidifier - Page 3 Questions & Answers
LG LHD30 the compressor does not cycle on
Compressor won’t Start
The Main reasons that this will happen
1 - A bad run capacitor (silver or metal capacitor)
It’s either shorted, grounded or open.
If it’s shorted a lot of times it will bulge out, (sometimes slightly)
2 - A bad start kit ( plastic capacitor and Relay connected to it )
The capacitor is either shorted or open
The relay either has an open coil between terminals #1 and #5
Or the relay is stuck.
Any time you change the capacitor or relay you should change
the other, especially if they are over a year old.
3 - A loose, burnt or disconnected wire
4 - Wired wrong
5 Compressor is open (windings burnt open)
6 Low on charge not getting enough cooling back to compressor, (Feel top of compressor to see if it’s hot it shouldn‘t be)
7 Some compressors have a black plastic overload under the compressor cap which could be bad.
Same thing is happening to me.
Have you emplied the water tank? There is a float switch that turns the unit off when the water tank is full of water.

Sound like you need a good cleaning of the evap and condensor. The make sure the fan is running. If nothing runs then check your thermostat.
Will not run - compressor runs
Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.
Not collecting water,
IF THE COMPRESSOR QUITS IT WILL NOT PRODUCE MOISTURE COULD BE LOW ON GAS,BAD HUMIDISTAT,DIRTY CONDENSOR CAUSING UNIT TO OVERHEAT SHOULD SEEK TECHNICIAN
Water from LG 30 pt dehumidifier drains into
(assumming you are not an idiot, like the other solver suggested) you may very well have it connected to the right spot, many of these units, are not balanced well, (or are balnaced all to well, depending on how you look at it) The imbalance, basically makes the water drip to the front, instead of the back. Try to put something under just the front of the machine, to tilt it back, ever so slightly. Good luck
Collects no water
what room temp do you have there? what setting have you placed on your unit? what temp are you trying to reach from what start point. this unit is overheating and tripping out on thermal overload I suspect.
My lg 30 is not working.
It is supposed to. There is a float that rises as the container fills. When the container is filled to capacity, the float is at its highest point and the humidfier turns off. At the same time, the red light comes on. This is normal. When you remove the container, the red light stays on b/c the float is still at its highest position. It is designed to do this so the humidifier doesn't run when the container is not installed. If the light does not turn off after you replace the container, give the humidifier a tap to move the float back.
