Why is it "spitting" water instead of steam ?
I had this same problem! It's not because the tank is too full. I never overfilled mine, but I had the same spitting problem. I realized it was because I had added too much salt. I tried it once with no salt, but it never did anything. Literally was plugged in for 12 hours, and nothing happened. So I added just a PINCH of salt, and it works perfectly now. It's also not because you haven't cleaned it.....Literally just too much salt.
Hi,
I took my humidifier apart to see what was wrong with it and saw the carbon electrodes were caked with salt deposits. While cleaning them off, one of the electrodes broke about halfway down. I noticed the electrodes were hollow - about a 3/16" diameter hole down the middle. I found a small diameter screw from a toggle bolt assemble, cut the head of the screw off, cut the remaining threaded piece to about an inch long and used it to splice together the broken carbon electrode. I reasoned that the steel piece is only touching the carbon pieces, and not the wire leads, it should be ok/safe resistance-wise. I put everything back together again, and voila, the unit worked!
My humidifier is spitting water plus steam. Kind
More than likely, mineral scale has built up inside the tank and the mist tubing.
To clean it, turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Empty any remaining solution that's in the tank and refill it with a 50/50 solution of White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water. Plug the unit in and turn it ON. Allow it to run for 5 minutes, then turn unit OFF and allow it to soak for 30 minutes to and hour.
Then turn the unit back ON. If the water spitting has stopped, run the unit unit is half empty. Turn it OFF, unplug it and empty any of the remaining solution. Refill with Bottled Distilled Water and run it until it's empty. Doing so, will flush out any of the remaining solution and scale.
In the future, it is best to use Bottled Distilled Water, rather than tap water. As the Distilled Water does not contain any harmful minerals or chemicals.
Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.
How to stop it from spluttering
The sputtering may be caused by a calcium build up the water system. To solve the problem do the following.
Turn the unit OFF and unplug it.
Empty any remaining water from the tank.
Mix a 50/50 solution of Distilled White Vinegar and Bottled Distilled Water (enough to fill the tank).
Pour solution into the tank and allow it to sit for 1 - 2 hours.
Plug the humidifier in and turn it ON. Allow it to run until the tank is only half full. If the sputtering has not stopped, turn the unit OFF and allow the unit to soak over night.
The next morning, turn the unit On and run for 20 minutes. Turn the unit OFF & unplug it. Pour out the remaining solution and refill with Bottled Distilled Water. Run the unit for an hour. This will flush out the lines. After that, it should run normally.
I would highly recommend using Bottled Distilled Water in the future, rather than Tap Water.
Hope this helped you to solve the problem.
When I first got the product, it worked great. Now
what is your water quality like. Anyway, unplug, and remove the screws from the underside of heating element. Pull unit apart and clean the heating coils, gonna have to scrap them with a utility knife. If you have hard water, deposits will build up on them , check them once a week if useing often
Just got one nuthing is
you may have to mix table salt with the water first! add 2 tablespoons of table salt and stir until salt dissolves then plug in and give it a try..
No steam comes out
I just took mine apart and cleaned the scale off the heating elements. Filled to the level with hot water and it was steaming good in about 2 mins.
My V150SG humidifier smells bad
I just bought one as well. It has a terrible odor! I wanted to let it run for a while, but now I think I won't waste my time. Thanks for the posts.
I would like to know the power comsumtion
P = Power = Watts = ?
I = Current = Amps = 5.5 - 6.0
E = Voltage = ------- = 120
P = I * E
P = 720
sing a FLUKE 31 Clamp meter. after 30 minutes of use it averaged at about 5.5 - 6.0 amps.
Which relates to 720 watts.
Why is it that the steam doesn't seem to be
use vinegar in water when steam drops then clean out water container. and use a small pinch of salt to let the two prongs in the plastic tube make better contact with each other it will steam very well.
Vicks hot steam cord gets really hot
My cord is also getting very hot after being plugged in for just a few minutes. Is there a cause for concern here? It's not even a year old, bought in January of 2022.

Why does my humidifier make the floor all wet
You may be over filling the unit. Take the refillable water tank out and with the power removed try to remove all the extra water where the tank goes. check for anything that looks cracked inside the unit the best you can. If the tank is seating properly it should not leak. If it is filled properly it should not leak.
