Wireless cell phone. Model LG VX4500
Have you tried plugging in an earphone in the earphone jack? If you get sound from that, it may be that your jack has an internal fault. This is a common problem. Sometimes just blowing out the jack with compressed air does the trick too.

Vx8300 stuck in car kit
I just ran into this problem myself (besides that fucked up white main screen i have). So after reading all these other solutions i played with the thing and found that its one of the right-most pins in the charging port. Probabily a pin touching the metal housing or another pin completes the same electrical circuit used to determine if a car kit is hooked in. I figured this one by shoving a knife through the opening to clear out any debris and every-swipe made the "car kit" banner dissappear. so check for pins touching something it shouldn't. ( i said F-it and ripped that pin out!)
Hope this helps more

Normally a drained battery would take about 30-40 minutes to charge, however if the battery charges in about 2-3 minutes or even faster (as in your case) the fault lies in the battery. If your phone isn't water dropped and is within the warranty period you will get a new battery. I would suggest u change the battery and check (maybe with another battery of a similar make) and then see the results before u could buy one.

"use genuine battery"
I left my phone in the yard and it got rained on (don't ask), and I
brought it inside, took the battery out, and let it dry for a day. I
reinserted the battery and it worked for a few days until i got the
"Use genuine battery" message. I put a small piece of white paper (actually the back of the label of a bottle of Blue Moon) over the moisture indicator, put the battery back in, and everything worked, much to my surprise.

Reset
you can try to do *22899 which will sometimes reset it to the last four of your phone number
if this does not work, take it to the verizon store and ask a rep to hook it up to the PST machine and get the code for you, please find a knowledgeable rep to do this
