24 key for Office
from the information supplied, and being a Toshiba owner, new units are shipped with a trial version of MS Office. When the key ID numbers are requested you have exhausted the amount of time you can use the program contents for free. Now you must register/buy the product. If you purchased the retail version-the key is on the bck of the sleeve the CD/DVD came in.

Never go up one or two operating systems before researching what drivers are available for your motherboard on their site. Also see if 64 bit drivers are available. Once you find that win 7 is impractical to upgrade to then don't

Boot into Safe Mode... Do this by repeatedly pressing the F8 key upon bootup... you will come to a screen with bootup choices... choose boot to safe mode (the first choice)
then go to your Ad/Remove Programs from the control panel.. and proceed to uninstall... then reboot Normally..

Laptop apprears to go into sleep mode while I'm using it
To my knowledge it could be hibernate mode for laptops to save battery life when not plugged into the wall, try pressing the power button, my Compaq did that too. Also don't hold down the power button as after 5 seconds it just shuts off the laptop, unless you wanna do that.

DELL xps touchpad
Sounds like a driver glitch, from the device manager, try uninstalling it, then do a hardware search, it will locate it and reinstall the drivers automatically. If this doesn't solve the issue, then the touch pad has failed and needs replacing.

How can install Win Xp
If it ain't seeing the hdd then the hdd is likely a goner. I'd remove it and plug it back in just in case... These things use 2.5" SATA drives that are 9.5mm in height (or less), and they should be cheap - about 20-25 cents per gig retail. Yours should be a 200GB. Your local computer places should carry them, or you can buy 'em mail order on Amazon or eBay all day long.

My eee Pc will not
The prompt is there to tell you that the hard disk no longer contains an operating system - the BIOS is fine. Try to reinstall using a recovery CD (order it from Asus if you don't have it) - if it fails then the hard disk itself has died and you must replace it.

I can't open Windows when
Welcome to FixYa!
There are 2 process you could used when it come to cases like this:
1. If its the power settings causing this just follow this steps.
Here are the steps:
- Turn off your computer and unplugged all wires connected to it (including power).
- Remove the battery from the bottom of the computer. There will be two tabs labeled 1 and 2.
- Re-plug in the power wire. (the battery should not be in the computer) Turn the power on. The screen will work. Choose start windows normally. (if you get that screen).
- Go to the start menu then click Control Panel -> (Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan settings.
- Choose Change advanced power settings.
- Find Processor power management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On battery and Plugged in. Click Apply then OK.
- Shut down the computer and removed the power cord.
- Re-install the battery on the bottom of the laptop, plug in the power cord, and restart the computer.
2. If its the boot files being corrupted as the one causing this, you could used this as well.
First BACKED UP your files to an external hard drive using Puppy Linux. You could used this link: (http://www.puppylinux.org/)
Once you are done backing up your file then follow this:
- Booted up the computer and pressed and held down F12 (boot)
- Insert the Toshiba recovery disc (there should be a disc one and two).
- Selected CD/DVD from boot menu
- Go to Toshiba recovery wizard then go to the second option (format/delete everything off of hard drive)
- Restart the computer
- Re-load the disc
- Select Toshiba recovery wizard and then select the first option.
- Once the wizard began, wait until it asked you to insert disc two. Continue from there.
Hope this helps you. Have a nice day and thank you for using FixYa!
