Lost USB cable for my RCA Lyra MC4002A MP3 player
I work at RadioShack and have had a few customers ask about this. We don't have one specifically for the RCA mp3 players, I had a hunch that the charger for the iPod Shuffle (the newer one, not the older one) would work. As it turns out, it does. You can order one through our stores or website that's made by DLO (catalog # 55025326 ), though most electronic retailers carry some sort of charger for the Shuffle already, and you can easily find them online, too.
Turn on, won't go past initializing
IF the mp3 is stuck on initializing your firmware went bad.
You need to go to the RCA website.
http://www.rcaaudiovideo.com/
search your make and model.
download the firmware for it.
After the firmware is download
plug mp3 player in usb device of your computer.
Then install the firmware.
My opal stays in initializing mode.
The website has changed to

"a service installation section in this INF is invalid"
If the player is showing up in your Windows' Device Manager under "portable devices" with a yellow "!":
1.) Right-click the yellow "!" and choose "update driver".
2.) When given the option to connect to Windows Update, choose "no, not this time" and click next.
3.) Choose "Install from a specific location (advanced)" and click next.
4.) Choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click next.
5.) Click the "Have Disk" button. Browse to C:\Windows\inf and choose the file marked "wpdmtp.inf"
I can't believe the generic players have such crappy support when so
many people have this problem! I think the Windows file problem might
be caused by "compressing old files" when you do a disk cleanup.
What video format can i use for my rca opal m43-a
Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX.If your player cannot play a video then it is an incompatiblevideo file format, then you need to convert that video file to a format thatyour MP3 player uses.Click on this link for instructions on converting videofiles for MP3 players :-

Hi bentleyme...
Try this solution to your problem
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, Apps,etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BIG WARNING: DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
ONE MORE BIG WARNING: BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up
How many songs can i store on it and also i can
In a 1GB device you can load about 330 songs of average quality ( 128Kbps ) .
Simple equation 1GB = 1000Mb
An average 128Kbps song is 3 Mb.
3 x 330 = 990Mb.
Please clarify what you mean by download. PC to RCA or RCA to PC ?

Hello,
I would recommend that you install updated device drivers for your MP3 player. You can find the software at the link below,
Click here for driversOn that page, at the bottom click the Downloads tab to find the software.
Afterwards, if you are still having trouble, try a different USB cord and a different USB port on your computer.
If this does not resolve the issue then you should contact RCA technical support.

Can i add tunes from itunes?
Yes and No,
You can't sync this player with I tunes but this player should be one that shows up as a generic storage device to Windows. Your I-tunes music should be in the my music itunes directory. just move the music over from the mymusic itunes directory to the directory of the MP3 player. Some
of the music formats like AAC may not be supported and need to be transcoded into MP3 or
other usable formats. Their are different software programs that can do this.
Also, if not using an Ipod consider Songbird as an alternative to Itunes for managing your music.
and maybe gpodder for podcast and such.
